    Ruger American .22lr reliability

Hey guys. I have a Ruger American .22lr in jail right now. Just wanted to know how reliable are they? I've heard great things about them. I was looking for an xt-22 at first but heard that they have some issues now that Remington owns marlin. Is the ruger picky with ammo?

It's a bolt gun. They generally aren't too picky about ammunition. I think.

This is gonna be my first Ruger rimfire so I'm excited. I've heard nothing about good things about the 10/22 mags. I got the standard version with the 22" barrel. I still want to throw on a decent scope on it to plink with

Nothing is wrong with the xt-22 that was actually my first choice when I was looking for a bolt action .22 but then I did more research. My 795 has been nothing but good to me I love it. The thing that got me about marlin is since their now owned by Remington, their customer service has been horrible and I remember Marlins customer service being amazing. I held an xt-22 the other day at bass pro and compared it to the Ruger American and I felt the ruger to be more robust and better quality

I assume you mean the Ruger American rimfire bolt action. Have one, it will shoot anything with out issue. For accuracy I have found CCI Std vel work the best without going to the crazy expensive stuff. Also have tried CCI "quiets. About as loud as an air gun. Enjoy.

Yeah check them both out. The cz 455 is a beauty but was a little over my budget

Yeah Its the rimfire bolt action. I can't wait to get my hands on it and take it to the range. I will need to find some std velocity but their hard to find. Do you have the standard or compact model?

Sweet. How many rounds have you put through it?

I have a relatively new RAR .22LR compact.

                            Like it a Lot.

Put Tech-sights apertures on it right off, and they are outstanding.

Have only run REMINGTON GB's through it, as they are my .22LR fodder de-jour.

Very reliable, but a little hard to feed every once in a while. Maybe 2->5%.

Could be the ammo, or that the chamber is new/rough.

                            My 10/22's eat'em like Chiclets.

                            Still, really like the carbine.

Nice. I was thinking on getting the compact model but I went with the standard. I have plenty of GB so they should feed smoothly. I've heard that cci std velocity feeds very well with the RAR . How much did the tech sights run you? I've heard nothin but good things on the tech sights
