See what happens when you ask for an opinion on Calguns.....you get 25 different ones....just buy what feels good in your hands and what you can spend without BREAKING YOUR BANK. If like many shooters, the guns end up in a safe and then for sale on this forum(read the ads) then you're not into it for a fortune, although you can usually get back most if not all of your purchase price. If you find yourself becoming a serious shooter, then you can spend the money after you have some experience and knowledge. All the rifles mentioned above will show you a good time for a beginner and whet your appetite for learning to shoot. Enjoy

Bought a ruger american and it's flip up sight was crooked. Just put a scope on it instead. The CZ is a great rifle. I've seen some for about 300.00 here on classifieds. Worth it and I think a little better than Ruger american.Comment

I really wish I could be a snob with an Anschutz 54. I wouldn't mind snobbing it up fully if I could afford one.Open/Iron sights or optics that makes a difference

Yeah Anshultz's are great guns but costly and are like Apple products in the early 2000's...every one seems to be a snob when it comes Apple and everyone that owns a Anschultz seems to think they have the end all be all small bore rifle

Scouts perform better because generally Anschultz rifles have great aperture sights on them. My Kimber 82G came with aperture sights and with them I can get even the worst shot to qualify .....its just easier to put a circle within a circleThe Scouts perform better with the Anshultz. Still, I am keeping a careful eye on this thread. I have a ruger and an Anschutz sporting rifle I bought for the Scouts to use only after I saw have the other Anshutz's that are not mine perform. I like the idea of finding other bolt action 22s for the Scouts to try. Both the Savage and the CZ have my attention. One problem, however, is that the trigger pull cannot be less than 3.5 and several high end 22s have a lighter trigger and is therefore no use to me.John P. Hermesmeyer

When your post title says quality bolt action the Tubo Falcon and Xlll come to mind. As you step down in ability the 2500X Hall Anschutz Bleiker and Feinwerkbau come into play.

Remington 512.
Shoots 22 longs, shorts and long rifle ammunition. Tube fed too, so you can carry more than most other bolt guns...Comment

I love my savage mkii with Mueller glass"But mainly democrat voters would still vote Democrat if they elected Satan himself who ate babies as they came out of mother's wombs and killed people in the street. They hate republicans that much and are in that level of denial about what their party is about. They just simply can't handle the cognitive dissonance...." -SkilletboyComment
