Henry AR7. Anyone have one?

The Henry US Survival AR-7 weighs 3.5 pounds.

The Marlin 70PSS (Papoose) weighs 3.25 pounds.

I have one of the newer Henry ones. Didn't seem very finicky with ammo but I've heard stories. My biggest complaint was the larger stock and the rough controls throws the ergonomics somewhat off and it wasn't the most comfortable thing to shoot. At the end of the day it works and the floating stock and breakdown makes it a decent throw it in the backpack gun. But it is kind of gimmicky and I probably wouldn't buy it again. I agree with the above poster about the cricket, bought one of those for my son and it is a lot more fun to shoot and the accuracy was better, also much much cheaper. Didn't know about the stock mod, will probably be doing that down the road.

they newer ones don't have the issues that the old ones did. I had one and theyre actually pretty accurate I was able to hit a frying pan we stuck in the ground at 200 yards

I had one back before they were made by Henry. Charter Arms i think back then.

Anyway i loved it. But I was 18. It was my first 22 rifle. shot as well as most 22 pistols and did not have a feed issue. My biggest complaint was it only held I think & rounds and I could not get additional mags for it.

Eventually I traded it. If I say one for say $100 I'd buy it, but...

AR-7 Explorer, first new long gun I bought. Big 5 on sale $150 in 1998 or so. That one should be classified as a bolt action. Consistently failed to feed no matter what brand ammo was used.

5.25 pounds is a typo. Check anywhere and it's 3.25 pounds. You found the one page on the entire internet that claims it weighs more than 3.25 pounds. A 10 round loaded .22 magazine doesn't weigh 2 pounds. Nothing you can put on the rifle to make it "ready to go" would add 2 pounds. At 5.25 pounds it would weigh 1.6 pounds more than the lightest Ruger 10/22 made. There's no way in hell it weighs MORE than a 10/22.

Assuming you mean "Henry", I have one. It was purely a spontaneous impulse buy and has a very narrow usage. It ain't for taking to the range.

And no, accuracy past 25-30 yards is lacking. 50 tops.

So, in other words, accuracy-wise IT IS the same as the 10/22

It's a semi auto and it's not finnicky with ammo. It also weighs 2 pounds less than the papoose.

You must be thinking about the Charter Arms rifle and not the Henry.

finicky? i use minimags and stingers with it; NO ISSUES...

"finicky with ammo" usually means "i only use the cheapest ammo (dirtiest) i can find"...and yeah, if you use primarily cheap ammo with it, it will foul fast and it will jam...

I have one I haven't got to shoot it a hole lot but I am not really a fan of it. I'm not a small guy and the gun is small for me. Seems like it would be great for a kid. Maybe I'll take it back out this week give it another try.
