    Ruger Mark iii magazine

My Mark iii will not lock the slide back on the last round with one of my magazines. It recently started doing this. I took the gun down and cleaned it as discussed in a recent thread. I went back to the range and had the same issue with the magazine. I switched to my other (barely used) magazine and the problem went away. I have seen the magazine tuning YouTube that also is discussed on Rimfire Central. I have no interest in doing all that. Other than buying a new magazine, is there something else I should or can do to it? I guess I could take it apaert and clean it. Also, does anyone have any good or bad experiences with the aftermarket Mark iii magazines? They are about $6 less on the Cheaper Than Dirt website. Many thanks for any suggestions.

So you're aware that you can tune the magazine like other people have, want to know what you can do to the magazine, but don't want to do anything to the magazine?

Yes, clean the magazine and tune it if necessary. Since it does it with 1 magazine and not the other(do you only have 2?), then it's not the gun.

Cheaper than dirt is a PIECE OF **** LOWLIFE SCUMBAG of a website. If that entire site dropped off the internet then our gun shopping experience would improve...

IIRC, I believe the magazine base pads are interchangeable with either MK-III and MK-IIs or the MK-III and the 22/45 mags. Perhaps you can look at those as well. Aftermarket mags in a MK-III or newer- bleh. ESPECIALLY from a ripoff site like CTD...

I had a problem with a Mkiii magazine not seating properly. Called Ruger. They send me a new one with a prepaid return envelope for the old one (they wanted to diagnose the problem). Great customer service.

            CS was great for us.
