The Browning is a scaled DOWN 1911, so it doesn't even COME CLOSE to the feel of your
favorite 45. The GSG 1911 isn't perfect but for less then $400 it works
pretty darn good and mine has functioned with all 22 ammo, even the bulk
stuff. It feels like your 45 although a few ounces lighter, controls are the
same and some parts interchange with your 45. Pete

I've no idea why they decided to mess with the scale size of this model 1911 but it's a nice little gun, tears down just like its big brothers.
It's pricey though when you compare it to whats out there...I suggest evaluating what you want to use it for. If it's going to be a training guide then I'd go with something else (or even a full size 1911 with conversion kit) - if you want a nice little gun to hand down one day with some nostalgia, this Browning fits the bill IMHO."Those who hammer their guns into plows will plow for those who do not."Comment

I bought one to introduce the grandkids to shooting a handgun. It's "just like Grandpa's" but fits smaller hands. When they get bigger, they can move up to my Series 70 with a Kimber .22lr conversion mounted, then a RIA 1911 Tactical 9mm, then a .45acp.
It's a lot of $, but it's also a very well-made gun. No zinc, plastic, or Bondo. I wish they made a Gold Cup version.Comment

It's a very solidly built gun. As has been mentioned it is NOT the size of a regular 1911, it wasn't meant to be. Everything on it is exactly 85% the size of a full size 1911. The Browning is leaps and bounds ahead of the GSG, they really aren't comparable. Mine is accurate and eats any ammo I feed it. Quite a few people shot it and loved it as well.
They aren't cheap...pretty pricey for what it is. $550 seemed to be about the going rate when I got mine. If you don't mind the price, and like that everything is 85% the size of a real 1911, you'll be quite pleased.
Picture is my Browning 1911 A1 on the bottom and a full size Colt 1911 on top for comparison

Yeah the smaller size is harder to manipulate and the sights aren't stellar, but it is a blast to shoot. Also very concealable should you ever find the need.Comment

Very reliable, but tiny sights. I like it. Too bad we can't get the "Black Label" one.Comment

I've wanted one since they came out. Just don't have the funding for that and the other stuff on my wish list.
Sorry, not sorry.

When I worked at Bullseye I would feel this thing from time to time and it DID have a smooth pull and felt very nice in the hand. It is made by Browning so how bad can it be? I did like them and several customers liked them also.7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...

I like mine. At 80%, the sights are a bit small, and can be difficult to see. This is easily fixed with a small bit of Hi-Viz paint on the front sight. The gun functions and breaks down just like a full size 1911. Fun to shoot and tags along on almost all range trips. 8K rounds through it and not one malfunction or issue, other than an occasional ammo related issue.Last edited by XVIga_Rob; 11-04-2015, 3:44 PM.Comment

I want one, and from the various reviews i've read, they're well made and good guns. Most of the negativity about them are people complaining about them not being a "real" trainer for a 1911 because of their small size, them being too expensive for a .22 (when a GSG can be had for considerably less), and them being in more of a GI format (as opposed to being made in "Loaded" varieties like their big brothers in .45acp)."Two dead?!? HOW?!?"
