Were you shooting high velocity or hyper velocity (not recommended)?

I'm not sure if you're aware of this already, but the Spee D loader is great. I load up at home so I can spend more time shooting instead of loading at the range. They come in various capacities.

      Spee-D-11 11LR
      Spee-D-15 15LR
      Spee-D-17 17LR
      Spee-D-19 19LR

Model 60s are nice little rifles. I prefer the older ones with last shot hold open, 18 round mag, 22 inch barrel These three features were only available at one time for about a five year period.

Around 1984 to 1990 Models. They were real Marlins then too.
Amen to that. I paid more than a new model costs to get a couple of them. Glenfield has a Squirrel on the stock.

Agreed! Don't forget great for the Henry repeater also or any tube magazine. I have both the Model 60 (old one) and Henry and speed loader.

I'm not quite sure what type of volume you're talking about. It would have to be an enormous amount to wear out a model 60.

Many people here have owned 60's for 40 or 50 years with tens of thousands of rounds through them with no problems whatsoever.

My Marlin Model 70 is an Appleseed loaner rifle -- same internals as the Model 60 except it's magazine fed instead of the tube. It's on the line pretty much every month for the last six years, and before that, I shot it heavily for 15. Best estimate is 55,000 rounds down the pipe. It gets taken out in rain and snow and I've lost count of how many times students have ground its muzzle in the dirt.

In that time I've replaced the trigger guard, main spring, bolt, and firing pin, along with a couple of clips in the trigger group. I'm coming up on replacing the recoil buffer. Original barrel is still going strong... It has eaten only one magazine, a second one is marginal but still feeds OK.

Anyway, the point is it's not the most durable rifle out there, but it's not bad either. For a Model 60, keep the tube feed clean and you should get at least a generation of service out of it.

What cartridge do you fire? Hyper-Velocity (not recommended) or High Velocity?

While it's freaking awesome that you are big time, does it eject cases into the faces of southpaws?

I also shoot rifles left handed. Never a problem with my Mod. 60.

Quick and dirty method for Marlin serial numbers that start with numbers (older and current ones start with letters) is first two numbers minus 100.
                            So your 09 is a 1991.

My bone stock model 60 is only marginally less accurate than my full custom 10-22. They're great little rifles.

Thanks. little confused I thought 14+1 tube feed gold trigger model 600 from big 5 was made 86-89 or sold those years. 91 is what my research came up with also. I'm still on the hunt for decent priced 17+1 marlin 60/600.
