Aguila SuperExtra

Anyone else using this .22LR ammo?
My Sis and BIL own the American Shooting Center (currently a lake) in Houston, TX, and he dove hunts with the Aguila family, so he has a steady supply. I had him bring me a couple of bricks when they came up to visit.
I'm liking this stuff! Copper plated 40grn, and Eley primed. Not a single dud or misfire in a variety of rifles and handguns, cycles in the auto loaders, and it shoots like match ammo.
Now if I can just talk him into a brick of Shorts for my Win 1890.

Great ammo.

It's just not always easy to find and definitely among the higher priced offerings when you do.

The last I saw was $40 / 500 -- that's actually a pretty good deal.

Arghh! I was trying not to buy more brands of ammo, but just pulled the trigger on 3 bricks of this stuff. Three reasons. Based on some forum threads, I see that its pretty darn accurate stuff. Also, it's Eley primed, so that alone should add some consistency. Lastly, it's rated at 1100 fps, which seems to be a sweet spot with my 10/22 barrel.

I was going to buy 2 bricks, but the flat rate shipping sucked me in to buying a third brick.

I'll ask my BIL what it would take to get a pallet up here, and what it would cost to do it. Maybe a group buy?

"Estandar". If it shoots well, I'd be interested in going in on a group buy. Some people say it shoots better than Eley Club, so if that's the case, it seems like a pretty good deal.

I had a brick of the 40 grain copper plated round nose Eley Primed version (yellow box). To me weird stuff; had on occasion some rounds that would not feed into my Mark III, which usually eats any and everything. The powder smell is unique and will burn my arm on occasion if I am wearing a short sleeve shirt. I shot 100 rounds through my Sig Mosquito with no failures and then nothing else would run through it (gun clean prior to shooting these rounds). I took it down and have never seen it as dirty as it was from the Aguila. I am likely not buying anymore unless that is all there is out there.

Talked to my sister about getting some, and she said it would be a while before she could even look into it.
All set up for a Trap competition this weekend, and the flooding put the Trap bunkers under water, cases of clays, and 200? electronic throwers!

I smell a lot of strange powder odors nowadays at the range. Some IMR and Hodgdon powders have really unique smells. The first time i smell some powders, they kind of stink, but after a little while, my mind associates the smell with shooting, and I end up liking the smells.

Same thing with gasoline; reminds me of working on cars; or burning castor oil, which reminds me of two stroke motorcylce racing (ah the old days when moto grand prix bikes still were running two strokes).

+1 on that other than the fact I have a 2=stroke Kawi F7 in the garage that I can't get running right.
