    10-22 trigger

I was wondering what the preferred way to clean up the trigger in a 10-22 is and not a full Kidd trigger group expensive?

I'm thinking this kit would work well

I have that kit in my 10/22. I never used the lighter trigger return spring because I heard the VQ one was too light. However, even with just the VQ hammer spring, I experienced several light strikes before switching back to the factory spring.

I don't know if there's just something wrong with my 10/22 but all that kit got me was a slightly lighter trigger pull. I still have creep and a lot of mush and for some reason everything feels loose now despite using the included shims.

I'm probably just gonna look into replacing my entire trigger group.

I did a hammer sear deal years ago.

But i put a Kidd group in about two months ago, and although crazy expensive, I readily admit it's the best trigger I have on any weapon. 8 take up and 8 oz of crisp candy cane snap. Every time.

I wish I had money to just switch in a trigger group

Bite the bullet and go with Kidd, you won't regret it.

If you skip the beer and the women for 30 days, you'll probably have enough to buy the new trigger and a new gun to go with it! LOL

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

The Volq hammer kit is a definite improvement over the stock trigger and that is good price. So, if you are on a tight budget go for it. While you are in the trigger group, polish the sear and disconnector. There are vids on Youtube on how to do this.

You would be better off sending the Calguns Foundation or the NRA the money as a donation. Brimstone does three different levels of work from around 40 including shipping to about a hundred bucks. They do top notch work and you won't be disappointed. I think they will let you upgrade for the difference in cost if you choose the level two or three work and want to upgrade later.

I finally had to see what the hype was all about with Kidd, though. I bought the single stage trigger assembly and put it in the used 10/22 that I paid $179 for. I felt more than a little foolish until I took it out to the range. I wish I had just got it from the start. It is that good.

Kidd also has an assembly that goes into the factory plastic trigger housing. It goes for right about a hundred bucks. It will fit into an old aluminum housing but it might need some fitting. It's about half the full blown single stage assembly.

If you're handy with a file (don't use a Dremel!), you can check out the how to posts at Rimfire Central. Some people (not me ) can get a trigger as good as a Kidd with a little work.

Whatever you decide stay away from the VQ kit. I wouldn't use it if Tony Kidd stopped by and installed it in my rifle for free.

If you cant/wont spend the money on a full Kidd trigger group, the next best thing is the Kidd upgrade pack. Around $90 but I almost prefer it over my full Kidd.

That kit is great. I installed it on two of my three 10/22s.

Wow I'm surprised at the number of people that don't like the VQ kit. I love mine. Sure it's not as good as my dad's KIDD drop in, but what do you expect for $30? It made a huge difference vs the stock hammer and I even shot Rifleman with it in an appleseed.
