hah! I used to do the same mods... also from Longs, but in California.I remember when we would buy .22 at the Long's Drug in Greeley, CO. My brother and I would spend hours either cutting X's or drilling out the tips to make "hollow points" before going prairie dog shooting. Farmers would pay us $0.10 per, there were so many ruining their fields. We could cover the cost of the ammo on a slow day!Comment

When I moved to a new house six months ago I discovered a case of Winchester Wildcat 22 in a holiday cabinet when cleaning out the garage. It still had the price tag of $125.

Gemco in Riverside used to have guns and ammo I was to young to buy ...but I remember hanging out in the section day dreaming......a few years later when I was old enough ace hardware was the best place for 22lr......snap I almost forgot Woolworth in Riverside's Tyler mall had ammo"Get it on,got to get it on,no choice but to get it on,mandate GET IT ON".
