I suggest getting eyes on the Vortex before drawing any conclusions. It presented a much brighter and clearer picture to me than any of the PA 1-6x scopes I've tried. I'd be more than willing to bet that these two optics do not have the same glass at the very least.

I have a PA scope, the box is low quality, the scope are low cost scopes.
Reticle is pretty well thought out. Just execution is on the low end on quality of scope.

Vortex on the other hand, their nice stuff is made in Philippines, im guessing in a pretty nice clean room *just a guess*. I have a handful of their scopes. 1 recently had to return because of debris inside the lens.

I have their viper HD binos. Very sharp glass made in Japan. I also have their Viper HD spotter and Razor spotter.

Vipers spotters are Philippines Razor surprisingly is made China, Both pretty damn good quality spotters. I honestly thing the Vipers are built better and come with better covers.

Youre nearly spot on . I work in sourcing in the hunting/outdoor industry and many do come from the same factories. And it is very easy to make the molds for the exact same scope, that's why we have all the clones and knock offs.

What sets the "better" companies apart, is their QA in auditing. If you have never come across it, factory audits are something larger companies do often in China. They come in, with people from the US, and inspect machinery, living conditions, etc. The factory pays for this, and its quite expensive, 10's of thousands. Companies that come in with audits and routine QA checks demand better product and deliver it. they also treat their workers better then some of the lesser factories. Paying for insurance, living quarters, etc.

You better believe Vortex has a pretty tight watch on their factories and picks the best materials personally and not letting someone on the other end do it randomly.

                Thanks for that.

Bushnell elites, nightforce and March are all manufactured by the same company- LOW in Japan....

Quite a bit of difference between those 3.... They're all respected, but of different quality, and price points.

Ive seen scopes that are over $1500 difference in retail price separated only by a thin wall. Many components come from China and then get shipped to Japanese, Philippine, or US factories to be manufactured.

The PA gen2 is known for having very clear glass.

One of the annoying things about Vortex is that they have so many product lines and different optics, it's hard to keep them straight. They make the good, the bad, and the ugly. I'd not go lower than the PST, which is a reasonable entry level line. PST glass ain't real nice, but I've seen them function reasonably well. The Razor line actually has some very respectable optics.

One thing you should NEVER do is try to assess image quality over the internet. You simply can't get a real idea until you look through it with your own eyes in ACTUAL environment. Then, you must feel in your own hands how the controls are. Different scopes are best suited for different applications. There are preferential differences, but you generally get what you pay for, less being patient and finding a good deal.

Try your buddies' and other people's optics if you can.
