1-4x or 1-6x scope for ar

I am looking for some help w 1-4x or 1-6x optics for an ar15. I have a setup w an irons, one w an eotech, and I want to go w a scope for this build. I don't have much experience with scopes other than a vortex I have on a rem 700. I don't think I want anything more power than 6x mag and budget wise I would like to keep it sub $500 , I may go higher but am not sure it is needed ?any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you

Vortex viper pst's are pretty good. Sub 500 and clear glass. No questions asked warranty too, pretty nice.

Check out primary arms. They have great scopes for their price point. I have a 4-14 ffp acss and I have nothing to complain about it. At 280 bucks I consider it a steal. Here's a link to their 1-6 https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_...p/paps1-6x.htm

I own a 1-4 and 1-8 and feel like a 1-6 would be perfect. I think the Leupold mark 6 1-6 might be the perfect AR scope but it a bit out of your budget. I would stick to a good 1-4 with your budget, 4x is plenty for most applications.

Is it worth jumping uprice wise to the Leopold or trijicon?

Some good sub-$500 scopes mentioned here already. Once you get into the $500-$1000 mark, you start to get into nicer features like daylight bright illumination optics with the Trijicon TR24, the Burris XTR II and Leupold VX6. Past $1000, you see much nicer glass.
So, what do you want to do with your rifle?

For an inexpensive scope, I went with this Burris MTAC and have been happy with the performance.

Weaver Tactical 1-5x24... really good bang for buck scope! Made in Japan (in LOW plant) clear glass, FFP, side focus, Illuminated, robust, solid turrets, holds zero... and gets good reviews from others throughout the intenet... it's worth considering.

I have Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24, Burris MTAC 1-4x24, Bushnell PCL throwdown, Bushnell AR 1-4x24... they are all decent - but prefer the Weaver over all of them (it's a little more expensive, but worth it imo)

best prices I found right now are B&H $586: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...ope_Matte.html

                  and Amazon $586: http://www.amazon.com/Weaver-Tactica.../dp/B004NRXLOS

those are great prices for that scope.. everywhere else is pushing $700 and up in some cases...

Leupold Patrol 1-4 / VX6 great choices in that price range. Bang for the buck it's hard to beat the Patrol.

I have the VX-6 and owned a Viper PST prior to it. I really like the VX-6 for the zoom range, glass clarity, weight, and auto shutoff red dot. It has a bit of fisheye at 1x and the reticle is fairly thick due to the way they apply their illuminated dot. I wouldn't stick it on a precision build. Other than those two issues I really like it and won't sell it unlike my PST which I found to be quite heavy and the 1-4x range lacking when compared to a six 1-6x scope that I had for a side by side comparison. However, my PST was $400 and the VX-6 $800. For me the cost was worth it but ymmv.

Burris has some nice options hovering around that price point.
