Anyone switch from red dot to scope?

I'm a big fan of magnification, however with that said, when I was in Afghanistan I started out with my ACOG on my M4, after about a month I removed the ACOG and went to my Micro T1. I did this for a few reasons, one was the reduced weight and bulk, I was carrying the rifle all day long about 5 days a week and I wanted to reduce the strain on my body a little bit. Second, any engagements I would have found myself in away from my MAXX-PRO with the M240 in the CROWS, was no more than 100 meters, mostly much less than that, as most of the time was spend indoors at the Provincial Chief of Police's HQ (RIP MK). I also figured if I ever ran the risk of having to shoot people at greater distances and I didn't have my crew served weapon, I had my M16-A4 with my US Optics 1.8-10 scope with the OASYS UTM in front of it in case things went into the night time.

Thankfully it was a quiet deployment so I was never tested on my choices in weapon set-ups.

For personal weapons though, mixture of RDSs and low powered variables, gave the ACOG to the Fiancee for Christmas.

I have a Vortex Viper Gen II 1-6 on my "SPR" at the moment, I really don't have a whole lot of experience with it yet, my time available to get to the range has been somewhat limited the past year, however, I am liking it so far. I forget if its a true 1x, but even if not, its good enough.
