    Good Entry Level Scope?

Hello fellow Calgunners! I'm in the market for a new scope for my rifle, I don't want to spend more than $100. Any suggestions would be appreciated for a good entry level scope, thanks!

It's a beautiful scope, but a little out of my price range.

$100 bucks won't get you that "good" scope, if you could stretch it to about 300 get a SWFA SS scope, great quality and glass for the price! Honestly you can't beat it in my mind for that price

nikon or vortex are probably the best bang for your buck. fairly priced for great quality. but $100 is not going to get you anything unless you are looking for a rimfire scope.

A 100 bucks is really pushing it in terms of getting something that won't fall apart. It may be better to save a bit more; however, it would be helpful if you specify the rifle you plan on using. Something with a very light recoil like a .22lr would be more accommodating to a lower budget.

As stated above me, what kind of rifle do you have?

Thanks for the responses guys! Yeah I think it's best if I save up more money and get a good quality scope that will last me. I just put a special order on a Ruger 77/357 rifle, I don't plan on shooting any further than 100 yards.

It really helps if you mention stuff like this from the get-go as scopes can be very application specific. Without information on the rifle and intended use its pretty much impossible to give a reasonable recommendation.

That said... that thing looks pretty cool.

I think the Weaver V-3 1-3X20 would be a pretty nice fit for that rifle with an intended use from 0-100 yards. It also keeps the package nice a compact.

Not sure what you plan to use it for but look at the Nikon P series. They should be about $100 with the black Friday deals. Not great not bad either for what you get.

Also consider gently used in the For Sale section of CG... my last scope came from there and I saved $250 for a great scope.... worth your while to look there

I agree with the others, $100 is too low for anything but junk. The good news is that you can pick up a Weaver K4 fixed magnification 4x38 or their variable V9 3-9x38 for less than $150. Weaver's V3 1-3x20 would be another good choice for that rifle. These are all well made scopes with very good fully multi-coated glass.

Edit: Don't forget you'll need to budget about $40-50 for rings.

Nobody WANTS to spend more than $100 on a good scope...unfortunately the "GOOD" zone starts around $800.
You can get a Nikon Prostaff 4-12x40 for about $200 which is a decent value for an entry level scope.

Avoid brands like: Barska, BSA, NC Star, Leapers, UTG

I stand by BSA because BSA stands by their scopes. Best Budget scope with lifetime warranty you can buy. Good $100 options.

Avoid Barska, BSA, NC Star, Leapers, and UTG like you would Ebola. That is unless you like your scope to fail when you need it most and then deal with their customer service and wait for warranty repairs. Good scopes (Weaver's Classic line, Nikon's Buck Masters, Bushnell's Legends, Burris Fullfield) start at $150 and up.
