EOTech only has 1 reticle because:

Please elaborate or provide insider scoop. Yes I know there are reticule variations but I mean 1 reticule per unit.

    A. Military/customer requirements
    B. Laziness
    C. Reliability issues with the added functionality
    D. Confusing for the user in practice
    E. Other

I tried to make a poll but it didn't let me.

What else would you want that's going to improve usability over the existing offerings?

Or are you just looking for a switch reticle design like those cheesy Chinese gun-show holo sites?

Personally I think its fine as it is, making it do more is just going to add cost and complexity. Their design for its intended application seems pretty spot on to me.

      E. Because that is how THEY chose to design it.

If it works, why change it?

          "E." Other.

Having only a single reticule provides some with a reason to post questions that they might otherwise ask of the manufacturer.

If you want a bunch of different patterns to play with, a Russian Cobra has them and will last about as long as an EoTech.

But that wasn't what you asked.

Because it's a hologram and the reticle is embedded in the material.

You would have to disassemble the entire damn thing to change it.

I don't think I could live with an optic having to look at this every time I use it haha.

EoTech marketing department really took the zombie thing to heart.

Cool this sounds like the answer.

With serious shooting, consistency is good.

Consistent loads, consistent operation of the firearm, consistent cheek weld, consistent sight pictures, etc. lead to consistent results.

If you want to change reticles between magazines, then go with some chinese red dot. Other than some optics like 1-4 and other scopes with low end magnification that operate as a red dot on lower powers and a regular reticle on higher magnification(FFP and DFP reticles will do this), the whole swapping reticle nonsense doesn't really exist outside of the chinese airsoft crap(there might be some oddball company here or there asking some silly price for their 15 reticle red dot contract overrun MI-5 issued optic, but they would be a very small portion of the industry).

I have a good quality "multi-reticle" optic (Lucid HD7 Gen 3) as well as a couple of Eotechs. The multi-reticle is a novelty but completely unimportant.

Less moving parts. No worry of losing zero.

Because EOTech...their reticle is more useful than some realize. However, their "zombie reticle" doesn't seem to share the same utility...gimmicky tho.

Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

I thought about this some more. Can the laser potentially be set to illuminate only the center dot and not the circle? That would also improve battery life for those who really need it (I don't, at least not with cheap or rechargeable AA's).

If so, then B) is still a possibility.

Dino: good stuff. Variety is sometimes just about variety & novelty, not utility Or utility for different situations. A black reticle is more useful in some lighting conditions. The 2-dot EOTech can also be pretty useful. For the most part, you can ignore BDC at ranges below 200 yards? The range-finding is still cool though.
