    AR scope for around $150?

I'm picking up my colt LE 6920 tomorrow and want to put a scope on it. Will be used primarily for paper and plinking maybe some varminting. Probably won't shoot past 300 yards max. Looking at the Nikon p223 and barska 3x9x42 sniper scope. Decent choices around my $150 budget?

Of those two I'd get the Nikon.

if you want something with 1x mag, get the weaver v3 1-3x20

If you want something with a little more mag, get the Redfield Revolution 2-7x

clear glass, high quality not-chinese-crap. good value. both can be had under 200.

i think 3-9x40 is too much scope for a carbine. now if you're just going to ranges where everything is bench-rested, slow fire, etc... it might not matter. but boat anchors, they are. the glass on the redfield 2-7x is better than the nikon IMO and is a much more compact scope. you will be able to make good hits pretty much just as easily at 7x as 9x. notice how huge magnification is so rare in the military.

True, I put a Leupold 2-7 Rifleman on my SU-16. It's has same glass as Redfield I think. I put Nikon on a MVP. I'm just saying Nikon is a good scope.

yeah its more at home on a bolt rifle most of the time. long barrel ar15's notwithstanding. For the purposes i would use those guns, at least.

Nikon Sport Optics include binoculars, fieldscopes and rangefinders.

Nikon or Redfield scope and cheap mount. Could run a little over $150 to get just what you want but you can do either of those scopes plus a cheap mount for under $200. Rolled my dice on a Weaver and it fell apart inside at about 300 rounds with only range use of 7.62x39.

first decide if you want the extra weight and size for the extra couple levels of mag. because 3-9's are a lot bigger than 2-7'a
