Apparently you havent looked through a scope at night or dark conditions with a tacticool glowy reticle. All you can see is reticle.

If you set it at MAX, sure. That's usually the daytime setting that people use to mimic a red dot for quick shots.

I've used an ACOG (with and without additional illumination to the fiber), illuminated mid-power scopes, and red dots in low light conditions. I prefer the illuminated to non. My eyes are crap, and even so, the reticle doesn't wash out the rest of the scope.

Its why the 4-14ACSS has a super low setting.
