Well......obviously depends heavily on main purpose and application. We have run EXPS, 512, Aimpoint M3, T1, ACOGS, Elcan DR 1-4. IMHO.....inside of 50yds for self defense, the EO Tech hands down is fastest target acquisition and accuracy. Beyond that I feel the reticle is too busy and less effective than Aimpoints simple red dots. Elcan DR is the finest but very heavy, ACOG's are absolutely my hands down favorite, but as of current I'm loving the Aimpoint T1. Super Light, efficient and functional. With a new weapon as fine as the LWRC, I would stick with an ACOG or a T1 from LaRue with the tall co-witness mount.

OP, check out theyoutube channet of SUPERSETCA
he is based in southern CA and makes great video reviews of all the gear we've been recommending. sometimes it's helpful to have a video example of what people are talking about.

I've got an EXP2. I've also got an astigmatism. I was pretty much ready to throw in the towel on the Eotech as I couldn't get a good sight picture. Instead, I got the G22 magnifier and it's a night and day difference! Much easier to see, the dot is much more focused, and the crazing of the circle is much more manageable. Just my $.02...Comment

I have the newer model Eotech that takes Lithium batteries, EXPS.? Sorry I'm out of country and the Daniel Defense LW it's attached to is at home so forget the exact model. I seem to be the only person to ever have gotten the one w no 65 circle, mine simply has a 1 moa dot. I can understand how at close quarters the circle would help get on target quickly in theory, but for me, once that 1 moa red dot is turned on , especially on the Lightweight AR I use it for, I have no problem at all swinging the AR around and placing that dot on anything I want to hit and, boom, it feels like I'm almost cheating.
I love my Eotech, and w the 1 moa dot and a 50/200 zero it is extremely accurate out to 200 yds. I love the fact it makes you feel like not looking through any type of reticle, you just see a floating red dot and place on target.
For serious use though, although I have never even used an Aimpoint, they do seem less fragile than Eotech and of course there's the battery life don't have to worry about. I do see a lot of pictures from Iraq and Afghanistan w our troops using Eotechs though, never understood that because although I love mine, I'm just a civi range plinker and if I were taking my AR to battle I wouldn't want to worry about batteries. Even for HD, even though I have no plans of using any of my ARs for that, that's what my bedside 1911 and Mossberg 590 are for, if I ever did have to use the Daniel Defense w my Eotech, which given its extreme lightweight set up could make sense, if I heard a bump in the night I wouldn't want to be fumbling w the mushy controls to turn my optic on while I'm half asleep. But in pics of various troops from various countries, I have seen more Eotechs than I ever thought I would . I do love my Eotech for my purposes though, like said it feels like I'm cheating since I always used irons, just point and shoot.Comment

I have the ACOG TA31RCO M4 and EOTech EXPS3-0. Even though you can just point the red chevron at the close target and shoot, there's a slight delay in your vision with the 4x when your brain makes sure you are on the target and the target is identified.
The ACOG is good using both eyes if you are in "cqb" but there is still the delay between switching eyes. The EOTech is nice because you can see around it and then just put the dot on, with this optic you already have your target identified and are on it. There is no question or extra time spent before shooting, even if it's only half a second to adjust with the magnification on an ACOG it's still half a second and in "cqb" that's all it takes to get put down.
I live in the woods with 50-150m ranges for any shooting, so the ACOG with it's 800m BDC is a bit too much for what I need it for however the 4x to be able to see details in the woods is great. You can also mount an RMR or something tiny on top of the ACOG so you can use both, or run something sideways but this adds weight and a little too much tacticool for me. You've been using the ACOG for 8 years, so I assume you've got plenty practice at close range target acquisition and if you still feel slow or not enough definitely try out the EOTech cause it is faster but you may miss your ACOG's other abilities if you've got tritium, bdc and magnification.Comment

I have an EXPS-2 on my AR and took it out to Lytle Creek this weekend. Once I got it dialed in it was spot on with and without a magnifier.NRA Endowment Member

I could say I love it and I could say I hate it. You should see if there is some one who will let you try theirs.Good evening all.
I recently purchased a LWRC IC SPR and am looking to put an EoTech on it. The only factor is that I'd love to meet someone with one to try it out first. I've shot with an ACOG for 8 years and for my purposes I don't feel that target acquisition is fast enough with one.
Rifle gets out of jail in 8 days, if anybody is intererested in shooting that weekend and has an EOTech I can try that would be awesome. Located in north SD county, stationed at pendleton.

Depending on the severity, it can make an optic completely unusable without corrective lenses. There are some people who still think glasses are for nerds(rather, people smart enough to get their vision checked out), or simply don't want anything to do with glasses or contacts and just can't afford lasik(personally lasik grosses me out after my Uncle described his experience with it a few years back). You also have to consider that some people do not want to rely on their corrective lenses to be able to use their firearms(shtf, bump in the night and no time, etc.).Comment

I can understand the reluctance to go with lasik as I had a unpleasant experience with it 12 years ago and am now resigned to using glasses (couldn't tolerate contacts either). I can get around ok without glasses, but I think in an emergency they are the first thing I would grab before I went for my firearm. So for me, I don't think I'll use this as a discriminator in my choice of optic.Comment

I have an astigmatism and yes my glasses correct it. I don't always shoot with my glasses on, in fact to be honest, I rarely wear them. I use an EOTech and even with my eyesight, I don't have an issue with target acquisition or anything. Yes, it is a little bit blurry without my glasses, but it doesn't hinder my ability to use the sight. I am still faster getting to my target with an EOTech than anything else I have tried."Everybody is a genius. I bought a EOTech and used it for a while. But since I've acquired an AimPoint CompM4 the EOTech sits in the safe unused.

If you guys think your astigmatism is bad with an Eotech go check out a T-1 with a 3x magnifier behind it. The Eotech reticle clears up for me when I'm focusing on the target instead of the sight as well.
I prefer Eotechs, the battery life thing is a non issue for me as I have boxes of CR123's and all my other accessories such as lasers and lights use it too so I'll always have a few on me.
You can range with an Eotech which is another benefit. The only Aimpoint I own is a T-1 and it's used as a back up sight because of it's size and durability and so that I can set it and forget it.Comment
