Is this normal on a scope?

I didn't do a search so I apologize to the "use the search function" police.

I was checking out the thread on the Bushnell AR optic in the deals, sales and coupons thread and came across this picture on Amazon.

I bought a Simmons 3-12x scope from opticsplanet a few weeks ago and noticed this same thing on the scope so I returned it for a replacement. The replacement had the same thing so I returned it for a refund. Now I see this on the Bushnell, advertised on Amazon, and was wondering if this is normal?

    Thanks in advance fellow calgunners!

Is the scope upside down? I'd return it too.

Realy though. If you're asking about the post at the corner, that's were the spring is installed to push the erector assembly against the adjustment turrets.

LoL! I guess I wasn't specific enough but that that thing sitting at an angle. I would assume it'll be flush with the scope.

No, that isn't normal. I'm surprised you've seen this more than once. I've never gotten a scope like this, ever.

Normal, no, not on most scopes to come sticking out. I think that piece will push down and become flush. The manual should address installation.

Never seen one and I don't think it will just "push down".

Bushnell/Simmons are on the low end of scopes and optics.
After watching WTC Bldg #7 being razed, and considering it's main occupants..

I stumbled onto this note while checking advanced weapons..
"911 = false flag. WTC 7 was brought down by demolition. 47 floors came down in 6 1/2 seconds - not hit by a plane. Just one of hundreds of absurdities that occurred that day. Wake up".

It depends on what your definition of 'normal' is. If that is the way the manufacturer now builds scopes, then yes it is normal. It doesn't appear to be a manufacturing flaw. Thus, the real question becomes: Is it butt-ugly and do you really want it?

                      ^and this

It's probably normal for that model of scope, it's also not unique to that scope. Some manufacturers have something sticking out for the reason CRTguns stated, some don't. Sometimes it depends upon the model.

Typical? No. But yes some scopes are designed that way. Notice the screw hole is machined at an angle also.

I've never seen it before and would assume it would be flushed instead. I do understand that Simmons and Bushnell are low end scopes but the reason why I decided to go with the Simmons is I wanted to get an optic under $150 for my 10/22, which I'll be shooting under 100 yards. After returning the Simmons I decided to just "buy once cry once" and go with a lupy vx1 2-7x.

Sometimes it is flush but still obvious from the outside at an angle, sometimes it's flush and flat with the bottom of the scope, sometimes it's a knob that never had any external access, sometimes the scope body has absolutely no external sign of it at all. It just comes down to how the scope was engineered.

Bushnell makes a wide range of scope models. The DMR/HDMR scopes are very capable for the $1,000ish price range. It's not a fine German scope, but it'll exceed the capacity of the average shooter. I can understand why they are so popular.
