All of these scopes all offer excellent clarity/resolution and light gathering and work well on a 10-22 but I find the smaller diameter scopes look better on a stock 10-22 than a 40mm scope. Scopes with AO or EFR will work better for fine target shooting, while those without will usually be better for hunting or plinking.

I'd rate them in this order:
    1. Leupold VX-2 3-9x33 Rimfire w/EFR - $350
    2. Leupold VX-1 2-7x28 Rimfire - $230
    3. Weaver RV9 3-9x32 Rimfire w/AO - $230
    4. Weaver RV7 2.5-7x28 Rimfire - $150
    5. Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 Rimfire - $150

If you want a bit more power I recommend a Weaver V16 4-16x42 w/AO but it'll set you back $350+.

I put a vintage Weaver K4 60B on one of my 10/22's, along with some medium height steel rings. Nice set up and under $100.
