Q: If you did not have the reflex sights.. you would you use the 1x-6x vari on the scope? Or just stay with 6x fixed?

If I were forced to not have a 45deg mounted reflex or 45deg mounted irons then yes I would be forced to use the variable magnification capabilities of the scope. I would however purchase the cat-tail option.

I read somewhere that the Gen 2 would have a truer 1X also.

Gen 2 is much brighter thicker crosshair and the clicks are solid. Go under the Primaryarms youtube channel" closer look of gen2 1-6x acss"

Only selling my current one because I need money at the moment. Definitely interested in checking out this one though. I love the value and quality of the scope!

+1 on this advice. I have their 1-6 and really, really like it. Hits on steel plates out to 500m is boringly easy with both a .308 and 5.56 AR.

Having the ability to dial down the magnification for close in work is very helpful and the reticle design works well for CQB at 1X. Yes, you can mount a reflex on top of the 4X version but that's a bit high up and clunky for my tastes.

Personally, I'm waiting on the 4-14 with ACSS reticle for one of my .308 AR's and will move the 1-6 to a 5.56 version.

Boringly easy! Lol yeah it does take some of the fun out of it.
What is amazing is during testing we were able to range targets 25+/-yards out to 800! when we tried to confirm with a laser range finder half of the time we were not getting any signal past 600 yards, it took for ever and finally had to bounce it off a hill side and subtract the estimated space. The ACSS built in range finder always works and does not need batteries or weather conditions, all you do is range and engage.
