Fixed 4x Scope

I picked up a new 270 Win and would like to put a fixed 4x on it. I wanted a Zeiss conquest but they don't make the fixed 4 anymore. There Is IOR/Valdada and Leupold but I am not sure what else is out there. Anyone have any experience with the above scopes or have any other recommendations?

For a hunting gun look at a leupold vxr 1-4 or 2-7,. The glass is crystal clear. Also nikon makes some budget friendlu scope that are very clear under 200

You can probably pick up a newer Nikon buckmasters 4x for $160ish (used).

I had one that I sold for that price I believe earlier this year since I replaced it with a lower power scope for my deer brush gun.

Buy a Leupold. You will not regret it. "Personally" I would put a 3X9X40 or 3.5X10X40 Leupold on it but if you like the 4X then get a Leupold

3-9 vxii Leupold for big game, 4-12if varmints also.

The Weaver K-4 4X is a nice scope for about $150.00 and the Leupold FX-II 4X is a better scope for about $350.00. I have a Leupold on my .308 and it's all I need for the ranges that I shoot at. Using variable power large objective scopes is kind of an ego thing, unless of course you are going to be shooting at unusually long ranges.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I always just liked the simplicity of a fixed scope, never having to worry what mag I was sighted in on. I had a fixed 6x on my previous 270 Win and never had problems. Most shots I took were from 75 to 200 yards. I just figured there are more 4x than 6x these days and the ranges I usually have shots at a 4x would work just as well. Thanks. Are there any good 6x out there I know Leupold has one.

Wih a quality scope, the POI isn't going to change with power setting. Quality variables are pretty darn rugged. Being much more popular, they can run even cheaper than a fixed of the same grade.

Don't know too much about fixed scopes, but IOR has been making the 4X for a LONG time and a lot of people use it. If they still make it check it out.

I tend to think that you can get a lot of variable scope for the money these days so most folks gravitate to variables which are a little more flexible.

I think a 2-7X would be a sweet spot, as would a 3-9X.

Weaver still offers the 6x K6 scope.

+1 on the Weaver K4 and the Leupold FX-II. The $150 Weaver is a really good scope.

I will have to take a look at the Weaver 4x, I have an old Weaver Alaskan 2.5 buried in the safe that I haven't used in years, it is a great scope. Thanks for all the great info and suggestions.

I use the Leupold FX3 6x42 with long range ret, on my 308 and it's great.

Why a 4X?
I could see if you were back east and the distance isn't normally over 100 yards.
But IMHO a decent 3X9 scope would serve you better. You a re limiting the .270's capability by putting just a 4X scope on it but that's just my thoughts on this matter.

I had a 6x on my old 270 and all my shots were from 75 to 300 yards and never seemed under powered. There just are more 4x available, however after listening to some of the suggestions here I might go 6x on my new one. I am putting it on a single shot and i like the simplicity of a fixed power. I have nothing against variable, in fact all my other scopes are variable. I thank everyone for their input. Anyone have experience with the Leupold Long Range reticle, I can't find a chart anywhere showing drop on standard rounds.
