This is all well and good, but does anyone know where I can get a pair of Vortex Viper 10x42 Bins for less than $500 shipped?

You've got to be kidding me. PM incoming.

Calgunners, no need to shop for Vortex anywhere else.

              OPTICS PLANET: Sir,

No you did not miss the "out of stock". It is not listed on there. That is what my job is. I see orders out of stock and contact that customer as fast as possible to let them know. Would it be better if you were able to see that yourself, probably, but "I would be out of a job".

Again, I do apologize for your inconvenience. That is why I will try as hard as I can to get you a product you want at a price you cannot get anywhere else.
I did get a couple of discount offers on other similar items. I think Ill wait and see whats cookin at the gun show this weekend before I buy from OP.

I've bought a lot from them, and always fast shipping and excellent product.

Just the opposite.... Everything I ordered form O.P. was never in stock it seems, and I waited (and waited) until the stuff got into their warehouses.

They won't tell you until after you complete the order if it is B.O.'d. Meanwhile if I had ordered from Midway-USA the stuff would have been here in only a week.

I think O.P. tries, but the are not very deep in stock; they try to manage with a pretty low inventory.

I also had to get an extra "manual" authorization from their billing dept. for no reason other than 'just because...' And I have nearly a perfect credit rating.

Later they just billed my CC as they were supposed to do -- it delayed the shipment delivery another 2 or 3 days.

Two weeks after ordering form O.P. I placed an order for ammo and special scope mounts with Midway-USA; both parcels got here on the same exact day.

It speaks volumes for both companies level of service and reliability. You can't trust O.P. for service.

                        1) Most important thing is to call and find out if what you want is in fact in stock. They will list an item even if it's out of stock, or never even had it in stock.

                        2) Know what you're getting price/ etc. customer service is nice, but don't expect them to be an expert of their products.

                        3) It is often possible find an item cheaper else where. You will need to know the catch. Opticsplanet will only price match under the following conditions are both true: 1) You have placed the order on the item. 2) The item MUST be in stock. Back ordered items will not be price matched.

Called OP first, verified item was in stock, ordered online, shipped that day, scheduled to arrive Monday. Free shipping and no sales tax-what more could I ask?

Maybe all of the above but with better pricing and from a vendor that supports your site and RKBA??
