    Primary Arms Red Dot Sight

Im looking for the final component of my AR Build, the sighting.
I want a red dot as I am going for more of a tactical build over a long distance shooter.

After some browsing through a few forums I come to the conclusion that Primary Arms was a good option for the price.
I am looking at the one in the link below, as well as a magnifier to go along with it.
I dont know if I should go 3x or 6x though..

What are your opinions on the sight?
And what magnifier would you recommend I get for it?

    Thanks in advance!

Just placed my order for the same one you have linked here... Everything I've heard about the company is solid, we'll see how it goes.

If you've got time to wait (I wouldn't suggest it with how often and how fast PA products fly off the shelves) I can give you my review/thoughts once it comes in...

I have a multi-reticle PA red dot, a Vortex Strikefire and an Eotech . . . + the PA 3x magnifier I use on all three red dots. The PA red dot is definitely worth the $$$ and the magnifier does it's job too, short eye relief, but really clear and no distortion.

awesome. what kinda range are you guys shooting with your 3x magnification with the red dot?
i know they aren't made for long distance, just curious, really.
I will probably end up getting a scope if I want to shoot longer distances.

I'd recommend the Bushnell TRS-25 for its low cost and insane battery life for a clone. If you need it for work, go with the real deal AimPoint. If not, it'll work just fine. I have some video up on my site about the TRS-25, if you want more info.
I run a magnifier behind my EOTech but do not recommend them behind AimPoint-type optics. The blobby dot makes it difficult to accurately shoot since you don't know where the edge of the dot lies.

I have PA micros mounted on everything from an AK/ Ultimak to a spring piston pellet gun. They are truly
amazing! I have ran them hard for years they are good to go!
I can hit torso size targets at 400 with

Didn't realize you were on the forums, PA!

Is that 400yrd shot with or without a magnifier?
I ordered the 3x set-up, am I going to be limited to around 400yrds?
(thats still more than I ever expected!)

                    No magnifier

I have a 50 yard 0 so hold about 2' above target. Your limit depends on your zero and shooting knowledge.
The magnifier will give you better target recognition. The strength of a red dot is fast acquisition.

For what it's worth, I've had a PA micro red dot on my AR15 for several years and love it! Zeroed in at 50 yards and have yet to have any problems. For the price, clarity, durability and functionality, I don't know if there is anything better out there!!
                          Your gonna love your product!

Dimitri - I want to mount a red dot on a .30-.30 lever action Winchester rifleman (cheap model 94 basically) for up close brush big game hunting. The setup would be like this photo below. Will the PA 30 mm red dot have enough eye relief? I've never used or bought one before but a hunting buddy has the same type of setup with a bushnell TR-25.

You don't have to worry about eye relief with a red dot there is no magnification.
The PA 30mm is good togo
