    Aimpoint ARD/Killflash w/ Aimpoint PRO

I recently picked up an Aimpoint PRO. Gotta say, love the sight and haven't looked back. However, I was wondering what everyone thinks about the ARD/Killflash. Does this obstruct the view when shooting with both eyes open? I don't want to be able to "see" the killflash honeycomb design through the sight. Can anyone confirm if this is visible while loooking through the sight?

It does interfer with your view....I was still able to shoot with both eyes open but you can see the honeycomb pattern through the glass. It makes shooting at night a pain because it blocks a lot if light.

      ARD

Here's an alternative to the screw-in ARD.
Saw one at Elite Firearms in Manteca and the guy really liked it.
I don't see a need for an ARD, but if I did, this would be the way I'd go.

      Hope this helps.

Are you going into combat that you require an ARD?

Ed, thanks for the link. I had looked around for a cover where the ARD also flipped up becuase I could see it being bothersome in dark or rain where water fillis up the honeycomb pattern. Looks like I will be ordering one of those.

I don't necessarily plan on going into combat where an ARD would be a life or death piece of equipment. However, in a civil unrest/shtf/zombies or whatever you prefer to think about I'd always rather fly under the radar and I believe a shiny red lens could potentialy draw some unwanted attention.

And besides I like how it looks

I used to have an ARD on my Aimpoint CompM4... i got annoyed by how obvious the honeycomb pattern was through the glass.

I then had an ARD on one of my 3-9 scopes... and I got annoyed at how much resolution and color fidelity I lost.

            So I stopped using them.

But if I was in a situation where it could give away my position and I actually needed one, yes, I'd def like one.

ards definitely attenuate light so targets will be harder to see in low light conditions but hey that's what nvgs are for

you definitely won't see the honeycomb pattern if you use suggested eye relief

Are there any improvements over the killflash accessory in terms of view clarity and concealment of the optic?

Someone else posted about using a cut piece of nylon stockings instead. Anybody try this or another material? I'll probably try it out - black stocking with rubber bands?

What about keeping the front lid closed and having your eyes superimpose the red dot over the target?

Store some mosquito netting inside of your pistol grip. Install it under your flip covers for the same effect as an ARD.
