Scope, ring, base...

Hello everyone,

I recently procured a Remington 700 Police in .308, and I'm in the process to acquire a scope, base and ring. My local range only go up to about 300 yards, and if I travel a bit I can shoot about 500 yards. My question is, do I really need a 20 MOA cant base, assuming I will be using a Leupold Mark 4 scope? Also, which base ring combo work best on my situation? I looked at the Badger Ordance, their base and ring seems really hefty and well made. Any other suggestion?

The 20MOAs can be zero'd at 200 or 300. If you ever need to go further the you'll have it already!!

Always go for the 20 MOA rail given the option, except if you don't have enough internal travel for a 100 yard zero.

However, the Mark 4 will be able to zero at 100 with a 20 MOA base. It would be a shame to have a .308 and not use it to its full potential in the future because you ran out of adjustment.

Badger makes good stuff, it's what I use. Also check out Seekins and Nightforce.

Definitely get the 20 moa base. The Mark 4 has enough internal adjustment to get your zeroed at 100 yrds. This will also have you ready to get out to 1k when the time arrives.

For the rings/base, I would look at either Badger or Seekins.

I have Murphy Precision Scope rings and 20 MOA base on my .308. Excellent products. I have used them on several rifles. They are based in North County San Diego and their customer service is 2nd to none. They also do custom work if you wanted something a little different. Just my 2 cents worth.
