Where do you shoot? Maybe a Calgunner with one can meet you out there.

Idk if the money's burning a hole in your pocket but on the 24th at Chabot gun Club the monthly Tac Rifle match is on and there's always a wide variety of optics there (EOTechs Aimpoints, Meoptas, Elcans, you name it) - folks will let you fondle all you want as long as you ask permission first

www.chabotgunclub.com and click on "Tactical Rifle" under the Matches heading.

Else I'm going to head to Chabot tomorrow with my new EOTech 557 (replacing a 512) if you want to head up (I don't have an aimpoint though). It'll prolly be late morning ~11:00am. I'll check the thread before I head out.

Reed's Shooting Range off of 101 on Duane Ave. in Santa Clara has Aimpoints. I am not sure about the EOTechs, though. If durability is your priority, I think the Aimpoint has the edge. If not, both are pretty nice.

Ahh reeds on duane so not the one on alum rock? well an aimpoint m3 is what i wanted but started second guessing and decided i should handle both before dropping $450 and not being happy. i think i will still end up w the aimpoint unless the EOtech really impresses. Thanks

It will. The reticle really is that much better, clearer and faster. When comparing, be sure to keep both eyes open and focus on your target for both. Looking at the dot will distort the image. Looking at the target gives the proper view of the dot.

If you can afford a CompM3 or M4, then get the 553 EOTech, which is waterproof, if you're concerned about durability, etc. It also co-witnesses nicer. Keep in mind you're going to need to drop money on a mount for an CompM3, too.

I would have no concern about the durability of an EOTech.

The one thing Aimpoint has the real advantage on is battery life.
