You know in the past I had heard that too. I asked one of my contact guy's at Nikon and he said yes. I trust him.
Remember, While I do freelance work for NIkon I don't work directly for them. Their business office is in NY.

I'm always happy to help answer question's regarding Nikon Product's or help anyone out with a problem.

Hey Bart, I am in contact with them now and a guy is checking for sure if I meet all the criteria for the rebate. Otherwise if not I told them atleast I can call and vent my frustrations for not getting the rebate..LOL Thanks and will let you know when they let me know..

I tell everyone when sending your rebate info in make sure you keep a copy of the receipt. I do not think you will have any issues.
