    Bart,

wondering about the p223 3-9 bdc reticle.

Is this a first focal plane scope? If it is ffp, the bdc would work at any magnification.

If not... at what zoom would the bdc reticle be accurate? I searched for reviews and info, and the nikon sport optics website, and it says "dial the distance, and shoot"... Is there actually a "dial" I turn for a distance which would calibrate the reticle? Or does this mean dial the zoom to a specific magnification for the reticle to be properly calibrated?

I do intend to put this scope on a varminter, but wondering how it operates.

    Thanks!
    Postal!

The P-223 BDC reticle is a SFP scope. If you go to Nikon's SPot On Ballistic Program you can enter all yourt load info and get more accurate distances for the BDC circles. This would also allow you to see what the distances are at different magnification seeting on the scope. Just like a camera, zoom out the distances increase. I have heard nothing but good things about this AR scope. Obviously built around using the .223 cal. but with SPot On it could be made more versitle. The dials on this scope are .25 MOA so you could certainly dial in your range as well. Spot On also provides correct dope for this as well.

      Hope this helps Postal?
Drop me a note if you have more question's.

I love my P-223 3x9 scope and the ballistic program for it by Nikon is awesome. Glass is crystal clear to me.

Online it says it ships within 4 to 6 weeks
I ordered one from Cabellas a week ago and it's similarly backordered. I just checked online and it's estimated that it will ship from 0-1 week. It was 1-2 weeks at the time I ordered it so hopefully that's indicative of the actual wait. I picked up my rifle Wednesday and would love to get the scope in, so I can take it out.

i ordered mine from optics planet, and emailed them about 2 days ago, they stated in their email that Nikon pushed back their ship date to Aug 15... so we shall see

I keep checking every week and the date hasn't been pushed back, middle of Sept. is estimated date of delivery. I don't know for a fact but I think part of the reason is the success of the P-223 and P-22 Scopes, they were sold out the first day and it seems like everything that came in was spoken for. Here I sit with a DPMS 22 LR upper with no scope on it....still waiting for the P-22.

Thanks to all of you who have shown so much patience waiting on the M-308, I don't know if I could have been that patient if I didn't have too!

I received an update from Cabella's that it's still on backorder. Looks like it will be over a month for me too. They did give me the option to cancel my order so I'm going to look around for a P223 elsewhere.

My big range day is coming up and I'm still waiting on my P223 order from Cabella's. I just ordered a new one from Optics Planet to hedge my bets. It looks like they're in stock! As soon as I have shipping confirmation I'll cancel my Cabella's order.

I'm hoping I don't now have two on backorder.

I just checked my opticsplanet order and it's showing it's on backorder. I'm very unhappy, since at no time during the order process did it state I was dealing with a backorder situation...

I have question for Bart. I bought my P223 and mounts from Walmart. Since I bought it from Walmart do I still qualify for the mail in rebate? If not why? I nonetheless purchased your products brand new and if the rebate is no good just because of where I bought it that seems unfair..Thanks

AR, I see your point and absolutely would understand the frustration of buying a scope and thinking you are going to get a rebate only to be told you didn't buy from an authorized retailer and you don't get one. For Nikon it's all about keeping the scopes being sold at the same minimum advertised price. Some folks who aren't Authorized Dealers get the scopes and under cut others. Nikon is just trying to be fair to those that support us all year.

That being said, Yes, WalMart is an Authorized Nikon Dealer so you should not have any trouble getting your rebate.

                                Thanks for the question.
