I am going to purchase a remington 870 police magnum for my first shotgun and plan to use it for HD. So far I am adding a sling, speed feed stock 1, and a remington le magazine extension. Finally I am planing on a light does any one own a surefire light and how durable and is the cost of them worth it? The models I am considering are the LED versions.

Thanks for the info
As well as providing a large amount of light, I like how cool it makes the pump action look. You guys have a very good price on them, when I get the 870 I will purchase the light and a sling from you guys.Want to Buy: Ruger PC9 Magazine Buttstock PouchComment

I have the 618LMG Surefire light on my 870 Police Mag and I love it. 200 lumens, Surefire tough, and bright as hell. It takes some time to get used to the switches, took me a while to be able to work the constant on/lockout switch without thinking, but other than that, it's a solid light. I've shot hundreds of rounds with my light and it holds up just fine.
And me personally, I think the 100 lumen version without the lockout switch is more than enough for home defense, cheaper too and 100 lumens is enough to identify a person down the hallway.
You won't regret buying one.Comment

Those Surefire foreends aren't cheap, but you won't find a more nicely integrated solution. If you can get your mitts on one, check it out... you'll be sold!!

i thought about the Surefire set up, but couldn't justify the price with several lights just sitting around. I ended up picking one of these up on a whim:
Check out the deal on L&M Single Ring Shotgun Magazine Tube Light Mount at MSP - Mounting Solutions Plus
With one of my flashlights that is rated at 460, 200, and 60 lumens, it works like a charm. This is my home defense gun, but I've taken it out for pigs with slugs. The mount is easier to remove (single allen bolt) compared to removing the whole fore end. Either way, I'm sure you'll be happy, I know several people running the Surefire set up without complaints. Opticsplanet is a GREAT place to order, their prices and service are the best around.
JerryThe inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.Comment
