Harbor Freight’s $50 Tactical Weapon Light – Streamlight Clone? [Video Review]

    Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share something I recently picked up from Harbor Freight — the Braun 1000 Lumen Tactical Rail-Mount LED Light. At a glance, it looks like a budget clone of the Streamlight TLR-1 HL, but with a price tag of only $50, I figured it was worth checking out.

I made a quick open box and initial impressions video where I cover:

    - What comes in the Packaging

    - Build quality and materials

    - Weight and size compared to standard WMLs

    - Brightness demonstration in a dark room

    - My overall thoughts on its potential use

If you’ve been curious about this light or are looking for a budget option to test out, this might be worth a look.

Let me know what you think — and if anyone else has hands-on experience with this light, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

No different than Moondog with his optics videos. They try to be informative but are long and boring. Moondog might be slightly better though. Regardless, I'm not going out of my way to discourage others from watching.

Wow shot across the bow. OP keep up with the vids most don't know how much time and effort goes into making one. Streamlight has been making lights in China for decades and the machining and workmanship has been getting better lately. If all you can afford is this WML from Harbor freight this or a used Streamlight TLR1 may be your best option for your pistola.

Been wanting to pick one of these up but my local HF never has them in stock. They won't let you order it online.

Yeah, my Harbor Freight never has them in stock. They must sell like hotcakes.

On new items like this, they usually bring in a smaller quantity as a test run to see how well they sell. When it sells like hotcakes, they'll order more, and there's usually a 90~120 day production delay since their MOQ (minimum order quantity) is probably like 1000 or so. By the time the second batch comes in, expect it to be around $79.95 or so.

Unless the Streamlight lawsuit makes their in house counsel tell the honchos to not sell that flashlight anymore?

Update, I received notice today that the Braun Tactical Lights are back on the shelf at the Simi Valley HF. I just stopped by and picked up a couple, used my 15% off on a single item coupon HF texted me this morning.

Just mounted one to my G19 Gen 3 and it fits great. Has the on switch on the right side of the trigger guard and the on as long as you hold it and strobe light settings on the left side of the trigger guard. Very impressive build quality, I held it side by side with my Streamlight that costs three times as much and they look and feel the same, the beam is actually brighter and stronger on the HF light. All that remains is can it stand up to some abuse and recoil? I plan on mounting one to my Smith & Wesson M&P 12 Bullpump and will leave it on the gun for a few hundred rounds of 12ga abuse. If it can handle that then pistol use should be a piece of cake.

Impressive light for $42.50 (if you have the coupon?) Still shows out of stock at Camarillo and Oxnard, but Simi had at least 15-20 in stock. I love a knockoff as long as its not a piece of junk. This new batch doesn't have the silver ring that Streamlight was suing them over, the ring is in the metal but it's just black. I suppose if you score one with the silver ring, you have a collectors item now? ;-)
