I have to get rid of 7,000 rounds of 22 ammo so I Just bought a new Ruger 10/22 STLS/SYN Takedown. I'm thinking of putting a scope on it. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

One of these: http://www.midwayusa.com/find?userSe...+rimfire+scope
Pick one of the scopes that currently are offered with a $50.00 rebate and you'll have a great quality scope for a great price. -
Check out the Simmons 22Mag 3-9x32 in silver to match the rifle.
Good reviews, good price and the one I own is clear and sharp.

+1 on the Simmons. I have two, one variable, one fixed power on two different rifles. Hold zero, crystal clear. Available at lots of stores.Comment

I don't know what distances you're shooting at, but I've been moving this back and forth between a 10/22 and a Ruger Charger, and I like it a lot:

It sits in a DNZ ring/mount combo, and looks like it grew out of the top of the gun. Not the best photo, but all I have here:

The Charger has an EOTech 512 and a LaserMax Unimax laser. Yes, I take advantage of my employee discount as often as possible.

I bought the 10/22 takedown also and wanted a scope. I bought the Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 4 x 32. It is a $100 scope with a $50 rebate. That was hard to pass up. I was not looking for something that was going to cost more than the gun.
I bought my scope from Amazon (which is an authorized dealer) with free second day shipping, because I have an Amazon Student account. The scope comes tomorrow.
I would take advantage of the Nikon rebate. I think Leupold has some rebates too, but they were out of my price range.Comment

Another good alternative is the Simmons Whitetail Classic 3.5-10x40 from Natchez, for $59. These work great on Ruger 10-22's. I've also used the Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50 from MidwayUSA on a Mini-14 in 5.56. Haven't tried it on the Mosin yet, but it holds zero very nicely on the Mini-14. Clear optics; I can actually see some good detail of the Moon when I crank it up to 20x power.
From my understanding, there are two sets of assembly lines for Simmons scopes. One's in Red China, where the quality is said to be kinda so-so. The other is in the Philippines using Japanese lenses. This is where the Whitetail Classic line is made.
Hard to beat for $59."San Francisco Liberal With A Gun"

+1 on the Mueller APV 4.5 - 14x40, though to be fair, I don't have mine yet.
Same as you I bought the Takedown then looked for a decent scope. For me I wanted a "good one" but not top of the line $$$$ since it'll probably live in the rifle bag for years. Many people really like the Mueller and seems to have an overwhelming thumbs up from users. At $129, it'll do me fine.
Oh, and the best rings for this scope on a 10/22 appear to be the medium Burris Zee rings.Last edited by kb58; 04-04-2012, 7:29 AM.Comment

The Weaver is a pretty stumpy little scope - I was shopping for "short", too.
