Thanks - good info.
I've also heard grumblings about Leupold's recent quality control, in particular regarding canted reticles, and more grumbling that Leupold is claiming a fair bit of cant is acceptable. IMO, once you get in the $1000 range, you should be able to expect quite a lot from your scope, and a visually canted reticle isn't something I'd expect to see even on their $200 scopes.
Hard to say if Leupold's learning anything, but once you lose customer loyalty, it's pretty hard to get back.

I have six setups of what I would call precision rifles. One I even bought from Nayt. anyhow three have Millett TRS-1'S, two have Leupold Mark 4's (one a 3.5-10x PR and one is a 3.5-10x M3) my last one is an older IOR 6x that I bought at a gunshow in the early 1990's . All of the above have worked flawlessly for me over the years. I know alot of people dont like the Millett scopes because of the duds of the past. I would rate my TRS-1 scopes nearly as good as the Leupolds and my old IOR 6x is actually clearer, brighter when looking at things like road signs or printed words at the same magnification on the Leupolds or Millet scopes when set at similar magnification. The Mark 4 PR scope came with the Savage package deal and I have been quite happy with it for use out to 600 yards in good conditions. They seem to run at $620.00 new when you can find them.
