Hello. Ive read that sime people say on here that the yhm quad rail is the biggest as far as "girth" size goes. Who makes the smallest rails?

One thing to keep in mind, if you plan on putting all sorts of gidgets and gadgets on the rail, some items might not intermingle with eachother due to the slimmer rail. But if you want the slimmer rail just to get a better grasp then you will be fine.

dunno about other brands, but i can confirm that the YHM four-rail free-float rail is chunky indeed.

I think you want to look at the Spikes SAR or BAR rails. Very thin yet made of strong hq aluminum.

Thanks, but i cant seem to open that spreadsheet. To either of you who.said DD, do you know if the omega x or lite dd rails are about the same size?

Asked earlier, im not looking to put too much on it, probably a vertical grip or afg, side panels, and a sling attachment. No lights and lasers. And a front sight if i decide to go lo pro.

Have you considered Troy's TRX series? It is a free float tube that has a full rail on top and comes with rails that can attach to the sides wherever you would like. It is very light and for the people who don't utilize all of their rail space it is a good route to go, as well as being very thin. -Ben

I did see the TRX series, but am not sure how i feel about it yet. I keep looking at the completed uppers on BCM's website with pics of them see if I'll like them. I guess I'll have to try to see it in real life and hold one.

For rifle length, probably Daniel Defense or possibly Troy MRF. For carbine length, the Ergo Z Free Float rails are about as narrow as it gets at about 1.9" wide.

OP, you should really try to look at this chart, it has all the dimensions & weights of almost all of the handguards out there.

If you want the absolute minimum girth, it's going to come from the "tube" type handguards like the Troy Extreme, DD MFR, etc. Some have exterior dimensions < 1.8" in diameter.
