    Eotech 551 Clone Performance

Information on the Eotech 551 clone should be understoond before purchase of the clone. I sell this item in my store http://www.medinatradingpost.com
The main issue with the unit is the brightness. I believe that due to the fact that the LED must generate enough light to product the circle with dot, the reticle will bleed in bright sunlight. I do sell these to entry personnel that will be using them indoor or lower light. These bleed in bright sunlight and should not be used as such. the unit sights well and holds zero but will not produce enough light to see the retiicle in bright sunlight. Therefore be cautious before purchase of any of the eotech clone. Since the clone is currently only made be one manufacturer (unlike the aimpoint clone) This will be an issue with ALL of the eotech clones sold. Understand your usage before purchase of this item. We at Medina Trading Post want each customer to be happy with the products purchased and to get what they pay for.

Can't seem to find any thing wrong with my clone point at all. Can't believe I'm saying this but the clones pretty good.

Holy thread revive! This is what you get when you scold people for not searching

It's been more than a year now. How do you tell if you have a genuine Eotech or a fake? Reading this thread it looks like the fakes don't work too well in high lighting. I just bought one used. I'm pretty sure it's real but I'd like to double check.

If the reticle looks pixelated, like it's made up of small grainy dots, it's probably real. That's a sign that it's got an actual laser rather than an LED like most clones.

Sorry, but, "The main issue with the unit is the brightness." is a big NO. The main issue is the fake EOTechs are Red Dots in an EOTech case, while a real EOTech is a holographic image. Major difference my friend. You can not cover 99% of the optic and the image will "jump" to the clear 1% of the glass and still be 100% zerod to the target.

Take one of your fakes, and cover the lens facing you with your other hand. The image will stay where it is and you will see nothing.

Do this with a real EOTech and the image will jump to the remaining portion of the glass without you having to move your head. The image is recorded on every single spot on the glass in every single possible way. You can only see one of the images at a time.

How are the "clonepoints" holding up after a year

                                i have the airsoft eotech

i dont really see why this should be illegal it is a device intended for use on airsoft only not real guns its like the replica guns should the gun makers sue for copying the outer shape?

                                i bought mine

it takes 2 aaa's(but should take aa's) and the reticle grows as you back away from the sight its weird like a foot back the circle dot is huge about 5 inches away it seems ok its a reflected red dot its kind of neat how they were able to do that in that small area

it also kind of sits canted on the rail and the battery latch kind of hangs up and intrudes on the sight picture

i got mine off ebay form a buy it now with free shipping
i figured for $60 i'll risk it from china and it only took a week and paypal might protect me

i'm wishing i went for the airsoft acog cause it has the back up sights onboard

i sure as heck am not paying 400 for a 10/22 optic

i got some questions for real eotech owners

                                is the battery compartment metal?

                                how bright does it get?
on full brightness can you see it looking at a 60 watt lightbulb? 75 watt? 100watt?
is the reticle spotty like digital image?
