Flat top AR. Individual Rings or One Piece Mount?

I'm leaning towards the Burris P.E.P.R. to mount my new Leupold AR 1.5-4 X 20 scope. Haven't ruled out individual scope rings though. Any benefits to one configuration over the other? Any input is appreciated. c good

One piece allows QD option. IE, remove and replace without losing zero.

Recommend Armalite or Larue one-piece. Armalite = thumbscrew. Larue = quick lock levers.

Both will lose a silght amount of zero when removed. Set it up, Zero it, and leave it alone.

Not so, I own an Armalite one-piece and used it on my JP CTR-02 precision AR. I have had it return to zero repeatedly. Not just close, but right freakin' on the money. No measurable shift in 200 yard zero, not no measly 100 yards, nosiree'

I have solid feedback from other rifle shooters I trust that the Larue works as well.

Biggest factor here is making sure you seat it consistently by pre-stacking any tolerance slop before you lock it down.

I did some research and went with the Rock River arms one piece. They also make one with forward offset if you need that feature. People seemed very happy and the price was good. This mount is going on my varminter so I didn't get quick release. Had I wanted a QR mount I would have gone with La Rue.

My upper came with ring risers. I took them off and went with a one piece. I was more concerned with accuracy as my upper is suppossed to be capable of 1/4 min. accuracy. I've always heard that the fewer components the better. Haven't shot it yet but it looks nice set up with my Leupold Mark AR 4-12.

I have RRA one piece, Burris PEPR, and Burris X-high XTR rings.
RRA is a good solid mount , but the finish leaves something to be desired.
The Burris PEPR is a nice mount , w/ a nice finish.
Burris XTR rings are also solid, w/ a inice finish.
If your going to be taking it off and on, then the one piece is a better choice, IMO
All are less than $80. and work great.

nikon M223 mount is another great option. i have it along with the M223 scope. extremely durable, nice finish and reasonably priced. only one thing to note....make sure you lap the rings before mounting the scope. just a tad of difference in the corners when pre installing/torquing the scope.

I like the ADM recon mount, it's just plain sexy on a flat top.

To get decent forward offset with a magnified scope, rings work best on an extended rail, and you need to make sure the height of the rings plus rail add up to 1.4-1.5" above the rail.

One piece mounts have less to come loose or shift, and generally have both the correct height and some forward offset, though the amount of forward offset varies a lot from mount to mount.

Rings on a rail give more flexibility, while one piece mounts are more solid and stable.

My Bobro 1 piece extended mount locks up tight and allows a lot of adjustments for eye-relief. Pretty good return to zero as well. Puts my Nikon M-223 about 1.44" above the rail - perfect for my cheek-weld. and I can switch to my Aimpoint ML3 in seconds, without losing zero (on either).
