Sun Shades

Well I finally made up my mind and I ordered my glass - an IOR Valdada 4-14x50mm non-illuminated MP8 reticle Scope. But now I have another conundrum! I need a few accessories for it, like a sun shade and some covers for it. Do I get a Butler Creek bikini lens cover or some of their flip up covers?

Anyone know where to get IOR sun shades .. or at least a sun shade that will fit this scope? How do I determine which size flip up lens covers I order?

Anyone have the answers to this problems?

Can't answer the rest, but I have a mix of bikini scope covers and flip-ups, and the flip-ups are definitely the best for me.

Flip-ups are always there and are easy to use. Some scopes can have trouble with them, like Burris, where the whole eyepiece rotates when you make the diopter adjustment.

Bikinis are good for longer-term storage, but are a bit of a pain to take on and off, and get lost more easily since they're not attached. I just found one on the bench the other day; now to find the scope it goes on...

Best chance for your sunshade is where you got your scope. Nothing else will fit.

Sunshades aren't a standard, so you'll need to contact the vendor to see if they stock an IOR sunshade for that particular model. Chances are that they don't make one.

Thanks for the support on the choice took me about 3 months to make this choice but I definitely think that the time spent waiting and researching was worth it.

I figured that my particular choice of scope didn't include a Sun Shade, I think only the 35mm tube recent model scopes come with a sun shade standard. The service rep at usaoptics.com I spoke with had said that I can pick up a sun shade from them if I want to. I'll play around with the optics for a bit before I decide, I would just like to have that option there.

I bought my Butler Creek flip-up covers - models 20EYE & 43OBJ. I also picked up a Tenebraex Kill-flash as well. I think that should help protect the lenses pretty well.

So, hopefully it arrives this week along with my covers and kill flash so I can mount it all in my Larue SPR mount. Then all I need to do is muster up the patience to wait out the arrival of my Upper from Alexander Arms.

Waiting sucks!

I just got my IOR tactical 16x42 yesterday, couldn't be happier, the knobs are so positive and audible, the glass are incredible compare to the POS supersniper scope. Talk to the people where you got your scope from to see if they match the lower price than you paid for. SWFA matched the price that www.cactustactical.com has for lower for me. SWFA has great customer service, especially the lady name's Patty, I always ask for her by name.

They seem like different models to me. I am pretty sure the one on SWFA is an older model IOR scope. I may miss out on the free Sun Shade, but I prefer the model offered by Usaoptics.

They look the same to me, I'm sure they get it from same ditributor. From what I can see, the only differ is one with the turret cap on and the other one is not.

Yeah I am retarded. The model I purchased from UsaOptics.com came packaged exactly the same way the one on SWFA is displayed. Either way the price was about comparable and as it turns out, UsaOptics actually sent me 2 VERY quality sun shades with my scope along with a bikini scope cover. The Butler Creek flip-up caps I ordered fit perfectly, as does the Tenebraex kill-flash (when not using the sun shade that is). I took some pictures of it assembled and mounted in my Larue SPR-1.5 QD mount. I am extremely happy with this scope. The glass if crystal clear, the reticle is crisp and very sharp and it just LOOKS killer. The magnification at 14x power is fantastic. I can't wait to zero it in.









Now if only my Upper would arrive so I can mount it, I would be set to go shooting! My ammo, chamber flag, scope and accessories all arrived this week but still not Upper, the part that makes it go BANG!

You are very welcome. One of the guys over on the 6.5 Grendel forums recommended the Larue SPR 1.5 mount to me if I was going to be doing long range shooting. It is a fantastic piece of kit that is for damn sure. I will be purchasing alot more Larue gear in the future.

As it stands now all I am missing is my assembled Upper from Alexander Arms. Every other piece for my project has been shipped and arrived at my house. I can't wait to complete it.

I took this scope outside yesterday during the day to see what kind of clarity and range I could get out of it even just holding it. Needless to say I could easily make out individual branches and leaves at 100 yards and I could read mailboxes 200+ yards out. The reticle is crisp and well defined and very easy to read.

I just wanted to thank everyone that nudged me towards purchasing the IOR scope, it is an exceptional piece of craftsmanship.

One question, how is the black finish color on the Larue mount compare to the black finish on the scope? It looked a little lighter black or grayish from the photo. Thanks
