    Aimpoint Micro Stripped Holes

Well I purchased a Aimpoint Micro off of a Calgun member (I will not say who until I take further action). Anyhow, when I go to mount a larue mount I come to realize that the screws are not catching and just come right back out. It turns out that the screw holes are almost completely smooth! After multiple attempts to contact Aimpoint without any luck I am out of ideas. (If anyone doesn't know, their customer service leaves alot to be desired.)

So far the options I have heard are to:
Somehow retap the holes but possibly crack the housing.
Somehow weld the mount to the optic making it permanent.

I am desperate for ideas and I know no better place to go.

    Cheers

Trust me I am trying. The seller is either not responding or giving me the AS IS story.

Just retap it. GO to home depot and get the tools. The tools are good to have around. Also it's simple to do.

It sounds to me like this was purchases used and came all jacked up? Most used items are sold as is and it is not like they are company so you can't do much to force their hand to fix it. However, Aimpoint will still warranty it (as far as I know). So there is no need to fret.

Aimpoint is GREAT at customer service. They've fixed stuff for me free of charge that was TOTALLY my fault (or my customer's fault) and they were not on the hook for. I cannot say enough good things about them. Completely pain free experience.

Trying to deal with the seller is waste of time...at least in my experience (no I am not the one who sold him the sight). Dealing with the manufacturers who provide lifetime warranties is the smart way and only way to deal with this stuff. Says so right on the little peice of paper inside the box.

If Aimpoint says no, then this is the way to go. It is very easy to do. But if Aimpoint will be willing to fix it for him...then I would let them do it. Takes a little time...but the end result will be great.

Ive tried contacting Aimpoint multiple times

Is there a certain person or extension number you know or recommend?
Ha. I would even be willing to ship it to you if you had some sort of Aimpoint contact or contract.

Aside from the questionable character of the seller, there might be a small claims case because the purchased item cannot be used for its intended purpose, as delivered.

I've had aimpoint fix the same problem....

actually, the replaced my H-1 (with the shiny black finish) for a brand new T-1. Hopefully you get it figured out.

It did take about 2 months before i got my new one, but they did replace it.

                  Good luck.

TOMD.. did you call that number posted above? I must have called at a bad time..

It doesnt work to send him to small claims if he doesnt answer and emails, PMs, ect. Honestly I just dont have time to deal with this ****head. As long as I can get it fixed then I will forgive and forget.

I do have to say I am very glad to have such helpful help in this community.

They said no or they just didn't answer and you had to leave a message on a machine? I am sorry I don't have a specific contact. I just asked for warranty repair. If you are just not getting through to a human being then maybe try the non-1-800 number on their sight and see if it gets through better? They have always said yes. I can't say I would have better luck. I just find it really shocking they said no.

If you don't feel comfortable retapping the holes yourself I am sure a local gunsmith will do it for you. If you are located up here in Norcal try contacting TDS Guns. I think they are located in Rocklin, which is just outside Sacramento. They have a gunsmith on hand who might be able to help. He has done some work for me before and did an amazing job. Also try the Gunsmithing forum on here. Post a request, I am sure you will get lots of referrals.

Okay I'm not gonna consider myself that smart cause I'm an infantry soldier but when you call that number it says either leave a message or dial directory... Further guidance?

Ok, go to their website, click contact us, and use one of the other numbers.

I am not sure why the number is not working, I copied and pasted it right off their website, but they have other ones listed on their site. Maybe one of those will work.

It also could just be the holidays. They could be getting so many calls that all the free lines are busy so you are automatically getting routed to a machine. And since that is not the norm, their machine might not be setup in the most helpful way.
