my dad and i both have the Winchester WT-541, it is a great spotter scope and is the right price. I picked mine up a month ago from Big 5 for 50 bucks then 10% off coupon. Can't beat that.

I happened to stop into Guns and Fishing in Vacaville from my way back to the peninsula from Sacramento few weeks back. Pretty good selection of scopes and optics there, along with firearms. Didn't check prices though. Online purchases will almost always be less expensive though.

              Got a Burris XTS 2575

It is a Cassegrain type optics so it is much smaller than any other type of scope. Only about $220 at a number of stores (list is like $350). This scope is way easier to carry than anything else I have seen with similar capability.

                Re: Spotting scope

Spend a bit more and get a Konus scope.
                Here's some info: http://www.jarheadtop.com/KONUS.htm
Here's where to buy one: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...tnumber=466045
Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I had the Barska 20-60x60 and it was WORTHLESS!!!!! I could see more with my 6-24x44 Truglo riflescope at the time at 200 yards than I could my spotter. I would highly recommend the Redfield Rampage 20-60x60 that they have at SWFA or any redfield dealer. Great clear scopes, about $240 range, you can see .22lr holes at 100 yards pretty easily and comes with a decent tripod and scope coat in the price.
