They seem to hold there value. I rarely see any used under $260. Usually $270 is where they are.

If you're not in a big hurry, it's always worth checking out SWFA's www.samplelist.com. They get a fair number of Super Snipers through there (there are several at $250 now), as well as other good scopes like Leupold, Burris, etc.

You have to keep an eye on it, though, as the best deals go quickly.

Since you're an optics noob, I'd recommend getting a variable power scope instead of fixed, since you don't really know what's going to work well for you yet. Fixed power is almost always better quality at a given price range, but you lose the flexibility. If you buy quality, you can always resell later at a minimal loss, or use it on a different rifle.

Samplelist has some factory refurb Nikon Monarchs for $250 (or $230 with ring marks) that sound like a good bet:

Nikon 4-12x40 Monarch UCC - 6545, Matte finish, niko plex reticle, 1" tube, adjustable objective (50yds-infinity), 1/4 moa finger adjustable windage and elevation, fast focus eye piece, like new condition, factory refurbished.

I've never used a Monarch, but they have a very good reputation.

+1 on that. I have a $1700 Nightforce for my AR-30 .338LM, and I just purchased a $300 16x Super Sniper for my long range OLL build. Now, I'm not saying the S.S. is even in the same class as the N.F., but for that price: BUY IT NOW BEFORE THE PRICE GOES UP!!!!!! If they are good enough for the military, ......well, 'nuf said. I love mine!!!

I love my super sniper 10X scope....I dont see any need to upgrade to any other scope....And yes Ive looked through a lot of high end scopes...The only scope I would even think about buying if my super sniper failed is a US optics.

What do you guys know about the Mueller 3-10x44 TAC II? Based on some recommendations I bought a couple of these for resell. I plan on bringing one of them out to Angeles this Saturday to try it out.

I was in the process of scrapping up cash for one when I bought my Super Snipers.
