Meopta K-Dot has served me well as a 3-gun optic. Sand, sun, rain, getting dumped in dump barrels... but no combat so can't speak to that! Has run like a champ, I'm even still on the original set of batteries after several years!
Wow! Still using the original batteries!? Is the K-dot bright in day light?

if you don't have the same requirements, you can look for a lessor optic and it may work perfectly for you. but you'll always know it was a lessor optic which can't do it all...it depends on if you can live with that
yep just looking around right now but the Nightforce 1-4x is looking pretty nice.

The Trijicon Accupoint uses only fiber optics right? Is the brightness adjustable?

Yeah, I bought extra batteries for it but they've just been sitting in my range bag! The Meopta is very bright and works great even during super sunny California days. For precision work I might choose lower settings but when running & gunning I have it on max and it's almost as fast as a red dot (where it suffers in this regard is in unconventional positions and when shooting from the support side with my non-dominant eye, red dots rule for this). I should add that if you do a lot of low light work, the low end of the brightness range is almost too bright, wish it would go lower...

To illuminate the reticle the Accupoint has both fiber optics to pick up available light and tritium when there isn't any. The brightness is adjustable via a "shade" that you rotate to cover up as much of the fiber as you like to tone down the brightness.

I've always wanted a Short Dot, came close to pulling the trigger a couple times, but I could never get myself over the hump on the $$$...

How bright is the tritium? Does it fully illuminate the reticle? How about at night?

            For Accupoint -
Triangle reticle - just the triangle is illuminated
German reticle - just a dot in center is illuminated

Sorry, I don't have a TR24 so can't comment on the brightness of its tritium at night.

For Meopta - the entire reticle is illuminated

If you need low-light illumination, get the green triangle.

The USO sn-4 is nice and built like a brick s**t house. It's a bit heavy but the glass is nice and the illuminated reticle is a nice option. I haven't had any issues with mine and I'm very happy with it.
