Redfield scopes!

I wondering if they come with caps to protect the scopes glass? Never owned one my self that's why i'm asking. But i assume they do.

Yes they do. Mine has some really nice rubber caps.

Was it something that you could reasonably use to glass for game in open areas such as sage or above the treeline without eye fatigue?

I wouldn't hesitate. Are you asking if it has enough eye relief though or what? I for myself would say it has plenty of eye relief on it for long time game watching but I work in optical all day so others may say different. Half of the day, my job is looking through a scope so I DEFINITELY know what I DON'T like but this was a great setup for the money.

I have an old Redfield Scope when they were of top of the line and dollar wise also.
It is mounted on one of my old deer rifles.
Still use both of them and great glass back then.

It is an Illuminator Model.

I finally fired the Redfield 4-12x. I only fired 40 rounds out to 50 yards because it was beginning to rain. Weather was overcast and low light. What can I say, it was clear & accurate. Very easy to zero, only took 5 rounds at 50 yards. I can't wait to push the distance.

Ive been looking at one of these redfield scopes with the accu-range reticle, what reticle do you have. Im planing on using it on a Browning A-bolt .308

I have an older model redfield on my Mini14 NRA, they are great scopes, old school quality. Don't know how the new ones will be but I'm sure will also be of higher quality than most since it from Leupold, which is what I have on my other rifles.

I just ordered a Redfield 3-9 X 50 mm with the Accu-range reticle from Midway/USA. Was able to get a great price on it with my dealer's discount. Only thing is that it's on back-order but, should receive it within 30 days. Based on price paid and all the positive reviews I've seen on the new Redfields, plus being made by Leupold figured I couldn't go wrong.

Will be mounting it on a Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in .30-06.

You gave me more info that I could hope for. Enough eye relief combined with clarity (avoid the headaches of cheap glass) is what I was asking (in a non direct way I guess).

Plus since you spend so much time with optics your post is super helpful.

Haha, you must be talking about my job! I look through a lensometer a LOT checking in eyeglass lenses and just generally checking to make sure prescriptions are OK. That combined with just a general knowledge of optics has helped me from buying too many cheap scopes. I have to say though, sometimes you don't get what you pay for, its a lot of marketing hype on a handful of brands. I go with a few tried and true brands but I've had great luck with truglo optics, and a few other "cheapies" that seemed to work fantastic.

Cancelled the back order and ended up getting the Redfield 4-12 X 40mm scope. It arrived today and I got it mounted on the Winchester. It's a great looking scope and I was surprised at the quality of the optics. Taking it to the range tomorrow morning for borsighting and testing. So far....so good.

I took my new Redfield 4-12 X 40mm accu-range out to the range this weekend and was very impressed with it. Very clear and easy to dial in. I was able to get 1" groups at 200 yards with a new rifle.

I am sold on the redfield scopes for the entry level price. Good ol U S A made.

Let me bring this back and digress a little bit....I'd be interested in getting a Redfield (4-12 magnification) but how would they compare to the sniper scope from SWFA??
