Hey Oaklander, how is your Eotech working?

I was shooting it the other night at 100 yards against a dimly lit target, and I was able to turn the reticule way down. . . and actually stay in the black. . .

Thanks for the update, yours is the 2-0, someone mentioned that the 3 series can be put on standby more or less. Would that be a benefit in your eyes?

Does it take awhile to "warm up", when you turn it on? Is that what the trick is about?

Instant on.

The NV trick involves putting the EOTech into NV mode during ceasefires to save batteries.

That way, you don't have to turn it off and readjust the level when you turn it back on.

LOL. IMO, if you are getting an Eotech for serious use (e.g. defensive, deployment, LE, etc), then you should think hard about an NV version.

Otherwise, you can save the $$ and just deal with it!

Also, I'm not sure how many batteries that buys. If you're plinking 2-3 times a week with an AA model, you might need to replace LiS (Energizer Lithium) batteries every two years or so. I'm still on my first set of LiS batteries after nine months and they still have full voltage. I also tested eneloops (low self-discharge NiMH) and they work fine in my other 552 and should last for six-nine months between charges (currently at six months of weekly use, no problems yet).

If you're going to use it when deployed, replace your batteries every three months of active use just to be safe. Otherwise, throw a spare set in the range bag and two sets in the BOB.
