    PSL side mount

I have a Belarus MTK-83 high rise side mount for my russian saiga 7.62. I'm wondering if this side mount will also work on a romanian PSL.

AK clamp, high mount right? It will fit a PSL but it will be too high and far back to be usable.

AK mounts lock just fine on a PSL rail, assuming they aren't way out of spec. Like I said it'll just be way too high up and back to be useful.

I would look for a VOMZ mount, kalinka has a couple 1" ones for an SVD that work great on the PSL.

Alright. My 6x24 Belarussian POSP (used it on Saiga .308) didn't lock on my PSL. I guess it was out of spec

AK mount should be able to lock tight on PSL rail.
It's probably your PSL rail that is out of spec (assuming century arms crap)
Hoop is correct, it will be way too high, at least 6" low on the paper

Well, I guess the bottom line is SVD and AK mounts aren't compatible enough to make scope (or mount) made for one useful on the other.

That's because of military adoption, and not a civi marketing decision. Both mount versions are available. The SVD (PSL) rail is mounted higher on the side of the receiver then an AK mount.

PSL rail could be out of spec too. I looked at a few at the Reno show and one had a rail shaped like a banana. Mine is a bit wonky, but it works. I also have 2 spare SVD and 2 AK mounts sitting here and only one AK and one SVD mount actually work on my rail. I put the mounts side-by-side and the non-working ones are at least 1/16-1/8" wider. Like I said the VOMZ russian made mounts are the only ones I'd really trust to work properly.
