Where did all the scopes go from SWFA?

    Hello All,

So, I have not needed a scope in a few years but now in the market. I have bought from SWFA several times in the past. But it seems like they have thinned their heard considerably. They don't carry Trijicon anymore either. No more Burris, Leupold, Nikon( which I think doesn't make scope anymore anyway), and others. WTH? Where is a good place to find a wide selection of scope at anymore? Thanks, B.

Scopes have advanced a ton in the past 20 years

Nikon got out of the scope game

        Tons of new brands

Old brands like US optics are no longer the best - most are low end Chinese glass.

Read up a ton and look at the used market. Some scopes sell in minutes used. Some really don't sell... for a reason.

Many hide where the glass is made...
        Japan
        Germany
        China
        Philippines

Many have different lines with glass made in different countries.

If you can tell us more about what you want - power min / max and price point, we might steer you to a different site.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I'm looking for a regular scope for a Ruger Scout rifle and a PTR-91. Something in a 3x14 class with lighted reticle. Both in .308 Win. It looks like Eurooptic is the place these days. B.

Scopes like everything else is going full big corporate. The little off brand competitors are squashed by marketing, supply chain, big box supplier deals and plain and simple cash flow. You basically have Leupold and Vortex, then some elite boutique brands (mostly high dollar German) then a bunch of Chinese no name's.
This is happening in most markets, one percenter rich owned companies creating monopolies. Choice and competition is going the wrong direction in America.

SWFA is getting out of the retail game and is shifting to selling only their own brand of optics. They are preparing some new scopes that should be announced relatively soon. I'm a big fan of their scopes, having owned & used the 1-4x, 3-9x, Ultralight, 3-15x, 5-20x and fixed 6x. I love their reputation for durability and can't wait to see what they have in the works.
