    Holosun 407c

Just mounted this on my G17. Im assuming its because its on Auto mode but wanted to check to make sure its not defective. So for those who own an 407c is it normal for the red dot to be super dim? A buddy of mine says he has a 507k and its super bright indoors / night time. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks

Put it in manual mode and test. Also double check battery is good and installed correctly.
Even in auto mode you can turn it up, but it gets dim in a dark room.
I only have 507s and 510s, but they work the same.

Shine a bright light ontop of the RDS, if it brightens up it's in solar panel mode. To place it in manual mode, hold the + button down for a few seconds until you wee your dot blink, you will then be able to adjust your brightness manually.

Ill try that. Appreciate it. I was thinking maybe the battery was already going out and will try replacing as well.

I did shine my flash light on top of the solar panel and it light up pretty bright. So that worked.

OP do you have the instruction pamphlet for your 407?

I ended up putting the procedures in my phone to remember how to make adjustments on the go/at the range. I have 3 Holosuns and they all operate the same for the most part.

Did all the test that was advised above everything checked out. Looks like auto mode just makes it really dim in dark areas. Dot was super bright in manual mode. Thanks everyone.

Not sure if you're aware, but manual mode means you're using battery power. Usual SOP is to change out batteries on your birthday.

Another tip is to use a paint marker to whitness mark your mounting screws as well as the battery tray screw which has a nasty habit of unscrewing at the worst time and spitting out the battery/tray and rendering your RDS inoperable.

The biggest downside to Auto is of you're in a lowlight area and you deploy white light your dot will get washed out. IMHO for defensive use manual/battery mode is the only way to.go. Solar/auto is for sunny range days only
