    Back up ion sights

I run Magpul pro sights with my red dots and can honestly say that other than zeroing them in, they don't get used much. Also, I have trained in scenarios where the red dot fails and I use the red dot as the rear sight (just a bigger aperture). So...for a new build..
Anything like the pro sights but not $200?
Anyone else run front buis only?
    Any other ideas?

Never saw the need for two sighting systems. Run one rifle with the red dot and move the irons to the other.

Stormtroopers have been using ion sights as primaries since 1977.

Not sure if I'd bet the rent on them.

Ditch the red dots entirely and put irons on both. Problem solved.
Would you expect some other answer from me? Look at my handle.

I thought Ion sights only worked with Phased Plasma Rifles in the 40watt range?

Don't over think it. As long as you can hit what you're looking at you're solid.

Configure your rifle to your shooting style. There are no rules or set of guidelines you need to follow unless you're paid by someone that requires you to conform to a standard.

I prefer folding BUIS for keeping things slick. My choice of BUIS are Matech rears and GG&G fronts. They just work for me.

I practice with both RDS/BUIS to avoid any training scars. Toilet paper tube method is not as good as a quality set of BUIS. YMMV.

Aiming through your RDS tube is better then point shooting, but your effectiveness greatly diminishes past 25 yards. BUIS are a must have for me unless rail space is critically impacted.

                          If it folds, it breaks.

I'll remember that the next time the ejection port cover folds up/down. A2 trap door is folded up. Tail gate on my truck. Wings on a Navy plane. Etc, etc...

Just having a little fun here.

With my bad eyes I’ve actually found that using a rear MBUS behind an optic helps with the starburst effect. YMMV.
