In my assessment (possibly different than yours) there's no compelling reason to get a Vortex over a Holosun 507C. Add to that the need for a recut or some sort of adapter (moving the optic higher and possibly losing co-witness) and I wouldn't even remotely consider getting a Vortex.

I've been shooting pistol mounted combat optics for so long now that I've forgotten when I started (ya, I know, not that this alone makes me an authority).

Another semi-anecdotal factor; I think I know 3 people now who have destroyed their Vortex optics when mounted on Canik pistols.

I started with an adapter plate with a RDS. It sat up too high which was distracting. The other reason people don't like RDS pistola is they find it hard to find the dot and end up swirling their head in circles looking for it. The easiest way to find your dot 100% of the time is when presenting to your dominant eye, having front sight focus, drop the front sight into the middle of the RDS window, while lowering/aligning your front sight with your rear sight your dot will magically appear.

Vortex are Noblex-Docter cuts IIRC. Same as Burris Fast Fire.

If you rarely or never use a holster, try one of those universal picc rail pistol mounts. Mako and others make it. HS 407C can be found <$200.

Those things are horrid, they make the dot sit WAY too high. Its not even comparable to running a slide mounted optic.

Simply put, there is no such adapter. Since the length of the Vortex exceeds the length of the RMR, there's no way an adapter will work unless the plate raises the bottom of the Vortex to clear the depth of the cut-out area in the slide.

The Glock MOS system just has thin plates... all the same thickness IIRC. I had FF3's on my MOS's and swapped in RMR's no problem (on the RMR plates).

I don't have them in front of me but they didn't seem very different as far as length.

Looking for a minimalist adapter (ie thinnest possible, black to match the rest of the gun, and non-universal) without spending big bucks. Any recommendations?
Cheapest alternative that fits the RMR/Holosun footprint are SwampFox. More or less same price as the Vortex. I have the Liberty + Ironside combo for less than $250. Check it out!

I have the 27mm one… Justice. It is pretty nice for about the same price as the FF3. Best price when I bought mine was from Rainier.

Got my combo during a Swampfox sale.

The only thing I hate about the Liberty/Justice is the adjustments - no tactile click and/or MOA graduations. Zeroing is a chore.

I had used mine on a AR as a offset backup to a 1-6… and moved it to a G34 slide. Tough choice against slightly more expensive Holosun IMHO… I do like the large window on the Justice.
