I have an AK with 6 inches of rail space over the receiver. I have a Sig Romeo 5 red dot mounted low on the rail (no riser). I think I'd like to try a red dot magnifier. However, I'd rather not raise the height of the red dot. Most red dot magnifiers come with flip mounts that raise the magnifier an inch or two above the rail. Perfect for an AR but not for an AK.
I'm looking for a red dot magnifier that I can put on a low QD mount, without the flip mount. Does that make sense? Can I detach the magnifiers from their flip mounts and mount them low like I'm describing?
EDIT: Nevermind, I think I figured it out. I think I can buy a low scope mount that will fit on some of them.
