    Help with new scope

Hi guys just bought a Barrett MRAD in 300 Win mag. Just trying to get some ideas on the scope. I was looking at the Nightforce NX8 4x32. Anybody have personal experience with it? How does it compare to other similar brands at the price range? What about reticle choice?

Any help or advice would be great

From the NX8 glass I've looked through it's just behind the Razor and Leupold MK6. IMHO for the money they're priced decently for what you get. For durability, tracking, RTZ, it's hard to beat NF

I'm assuming this is for long-range target shooting? The Vortex Viper PST Gen ii is a great scope that's quite a bit cheaper. The Vortex Razor line is better than NF in my opinion. There are quite a few great scopes capable of shooting long range.

I think the NX8 is a pretty nice scope in general, but the 8x erector assembly on the nx8 4-32 does mean you are sacrificing the performance of the exit pupil across such a wide adjustment range.

If you're trying to stay in that low $2K price range, the Vortex Razor Gen 2 or Razor HD AMG and Leupold Mark 5 at the mid $2K range. Or you can spend a little more and go Nightforce ATACR.

The Barrett MRAD is probably something you want to put a high performing optic on. I would at the bare minimum consider the 7-35 ATACR or look into Kahles, ZCO, S&B, or the other exotics.

I have Kahles, ZCO, and several Razors and I will say that if you go Vortex Razor go used. The value drops significantly on Vortex on the secondary market and you should be able to find a good deal.

Thanks for all the advice, I probably should have elaborated. This is a temporary scope so I can save up 6 months or so for a final scope then move this one to my delta 5. Thanks all. Final one will prob be a s&b

Are you considering SFP and FFP? I’ve been out of the bolt-action game for a while, so I’m not sure where the NX8 falls in NF’s lineup, but I’ve owned a couple NF optics (NXS and ATACR F1) and a couple Vortex (Viper PST and Gen 2 Razor) The glass in the ATACR and Razor was similar to my eyes. The razor had a lot of nice features, but I prefer NFs reticle choices and the ease of setting the zero stop on the NF versus the Vortex. The Razor is still a great optic for the price, especially if Votrex is still doing their no questions asked warranty. I never needed it, but it was nice to know it was there.

so there are bench scopes with really high power and not a ton of internal adjustments....

Bench scopes- shoot off of bench- heavy - giant long adjustment turrets....
