    Out of elevation

    Morning folks!

I've got a new to me Vortex Diamondback 3.5x-10x by 50mm objective that I have not been able to zero on two different rifles

First on a 10m pellet gun Avanti 783 (I think?) with a set of weaver dovetail rings. Elevation was cranked all the way up and still shooting a foot low at 10 meters

Second on a savage rascal, trying to set it up for my kids. Rascal scope bases, new vortex "pro" medium rings, and at 25 yards it was again maxed out on elevation and shooting 2 inches low

Does this sound to you like a problem with the scope? I've never had one do this before so its new to me and I'm not sure what procedure I should follow to trouble shoot. Both of the rifles it has been mounted to are sub $150 so not high end guns with the best QC so I'm not blaming the scope, it could well be the receiver/barrel not being super straight...

    Please advise!

How high is the scope above the action or barrel? Have you tried lower height scope rings?
    Can DI AR's run dirty?

Does the scope adjust? Try centering it to see if it works. To center place the objective on a mirror and look through the eyepiece. You should see the reticle and it's reflection. Line the two up. Scope is optically centered. If the reticle doesn't move or moves erratically, send it to Vortex for repair under warranty.

Is the scope springer airgun rated? If not it's possible that it is damaged by the airgun's harsh double recoil. Never mind if they are pump up, co2, or PCP powered rifles.

You could have barrel droop (think that's what it's called). Here is an article on it https://palmbeachairguns.com/fix-barrel-droop/ and IIRC Pyramid air also has info on how to correct this.

Check your mounts again. Sometimes I have problems setting one of the rings, giving me an offset sight picture.

Finally, get a bore sight. Even a cheap one gets you on paper quickly, and will help diagnose any problem.

      Good luck
